I ordered my M11x on the EPP site on 3/8/2010. I decided to splurge and get the SSD option for $384. In sheer $/MB, this seemed like a bargain for my first SSD drive.

As I've done my research, I've become aware that the Samsung/OCZ Summit drives Dell distributes aren't exactly a favorite among enthusiasts. My good friend, who posts on this forum as jsgiv, got his with the 500GB HDD and swapped it out for a 160GB OCZ Agility SSD. Which is totally an option for me too, but I wanted to finance my SSD with Dell's 1-year, 0-interest plan.

So... I wanna hear from people with the stock M11x SSD...

    1) Are you happy with it?
    2) Is it TRIM enabled? From what I can tell, everyone's getting theirs with TRIM.
    3) Any fiddly stuff you have to do with it for the best results? I saw one guy replaced his Intel controller drivers with the MS stock drivers.
    4) Will this thing degrade gracefully? Or will I hate it in a couple months?

Trying to decide if I should cancel my order and just go with the HDD instead...

    Thanks!

if you have trim enable, then all should be fine. true speeds are better on the other models but a regular person wouldn't be able to tell the difference. just use it, ssd will become more affordable in time, since you have it already no use buying another one just for a modest speed gain.

Yeah, I am sure you will be happy. Almost any newer SSD out there will show extremely fast loading for Windows, Windows apps, and games.

Plus, it is hard to get a good SSD at that size for the price you paid for the upgrade. You got a good deal.

Id like to get SSD but the prices are just stupid at this point. Will wait and watch for a deal though I doubt I will see one this year.
