I didn't get the option of the nameplate when i ordered mine. It's scheduled to arrive on march 8th. Too far man.
They only had these 3 laptops in the store so no chance of a comparison.
Canada won a Gold!!!
Yeah, the bluetooth included is way better than a nameplate, for me.

***SQUEAL****
Awwww its soooo cuuuuuuttee! Like a baby that the M17x and M15x had
Seriously, on the refresh and after Dellienware finally ships my M17x I plan on one of these... funny how these shots of one in the wild and a description in plain speech gives you a feel for it that most of the other descriptions just don't convey; as an iPhone user the scale of an M11x now is much easier to grasp with them side by side.
It's like a .45 in your pocket when you can't go in the front door with your assault rifle...
-
I don't have a M1330 handy to set side by side. I could take in my X200 if that helps.
M1330
12.5" (31.8cm) x 9.4" (23.8cm) x 0.87"-1.33" (2.21cm-3.38cm)
M11x
11.24" (28.5cm) x 9.19" (23.3cm) x 1.29" 1.29" (3.27cm)
The M11z is 1.25" narrower and almost half an inch thicker than the M1330. I though it was too small until I saw it. -
Try going there with your wife and daughter on Valentine day... I had 5 minutes to look at the system, anything longer would have been detrimental...
-
This machine seriously needs to have a dvd/blu ray drive.
-
If it did it would be bigger and/or more expensive. I prefer it to be without any optical drive as I never use it in my other notebooks except maybe to reinstall the OS.
-
Yeah - My iPhone's the same way. I fleetingly thought about calling to change the color to Lunar Shadow - however - that thought was crushed immediately by the knowledge that I'd have to cancel my existing order and re-order another laptop, thus getting to the back of the queue again. And with my luck, if I did that - they'd then have a shortage of parts and I'd have to wait even longer.
Why? I have a work laptop, and a home laptop - both with DVD drives. Neither of which I ever use (except *maybe* once a year for the occasional new program I install).
The other 2 laptops (netbooks - 11z and 10v) - I have - neither have a DVD. I simply either use a USB for booting/troubleshooting, or I share my desktop DVD for the occasional install (again - I have yet to have a need to install anything on these machines with a DVD drive).
If you really need a DVD drive -you can get a USB one pretty cheap nowadays. I fully expect DVD drives to no longer be offered on PCs in the near future - especially now that you can use USB drives for booting / installing software - and the fact that everyone pretty much installs software via direct dowload/internet. -
that would be awesome... my mom is pushing an alienware on me... Im 23.... wth... LOL
im just concerned with keyboard size/screen size... i love the m1330s key board... does the thing feel solid??? i like a nice heavy solid small box lol. -
Get a Sony Z LOL, I kinda wish 11x had a dvd drive too as I have so many older games that are perfect for this thing but they are all on DVD and most require you to have the disk in to play them so it's kind of a bummer but I have a bunch of games on Steam as well so can deal with it if I keep it
-
I would have preferred one myself, but I think they are looking at the fact so many people now do streaming for video and trying to keep the weight down and battery life up.
-
Personally I'm 100% fine with no DVD drive, my desktop tower doesn't even have one!! I've only ever used my Dvd Drive to burn windows recovery disks. Now I've got a USB stick with windows 7 installation bootable from it - why even bother? I can put any file on my 8gb USB drive, why would I want to deal with slow Dual Layer DVDs to do the same. Bottom line is on all my laptops i've probably used the drive once or twice ever, if that, and its almost always for recovery mode or flashing a new firmware.
Unless you have disc printing needs I think its uncalled for. I'm happy without it. -
Great find bro!
Every time I see pictures of one my heart races.
Your lucky probably the first member to get there hands on one. -
With no Optical how would you approach in Reinstalling the OS? I'm assuming remote disk like how one would do with the Macbook Air.
-
USB, disc or key.
-
Simple.
Either attach an external cd-rom via usb. Or copy windows onto an usb flash stick and boot from that. -
there's some good discussion over on the Owners lounge on the usb booting right now, check them out starting on post #441
-
Yeah I would just create a Disk image of the OS and install from an external.
Does windows Offer remote Disk though? -
I have actually installed Windows 7 by just downloading the ISO to my regular computer hard drive then double clicking it and bam it installed just fine.
-
Windows supports sharing directories or whole disks on the network. This will not help you however when you freshly install a new OS (but may if you are running windows already but are just upgrading / or possibly reinstalling).
-
I'm a huge fan of illegitimate ISO's.
-
Um, just because you download an ISO doesn't mean it was illegitimate.
Here's some legal ISO downloads for Windows 7(you just need your own product key). Here's some for another operating system.
Or, you can always rip your legitimate disk to a legitimate iso on another computer (or with a USB disk drive) and use that. . . -
Yup the windows 7 ISO I was talking about was downloaded from my school's website and I just ran it and it installed Windows 7 for me.
-
The USB Key install is very simple, I plan on making bootable restore USB
-
I second that, That seems like the most logical route.
-
lack of power supply picture is disappointing...
companies always omit pictures of the PSU... to me, what it looks like and the quality of its connection to the machine are one of the most important aspects of the computer. -
well i dunno how much u can tell from the pic but this is the psu
-
the end of that PSU where it plugs into the computer is exactly the same as my Dell Inspiron 1501 I'm typing on now, so I used that to determine the size of the PSU. The M1x PSU looks a bit smaller than the Dell 65W adapter I have. I'm make an estimate.. using the end plug as a scale it looks like the M11x's PSU is about ~4.25inches or 11cm long, 1" thick and maybe ~2" deep.
I uploaded a pic of my PSU for comparison. Those are just my rough estimates =)Attached Files:

Thanks Exiled.
-
I will add that since that end is the basically the same as on my Inspiron 1501, I hate it... I dunno if it will be different on the PC itself, but the damn thing pops out really easily. There's no "click" or snugness when you put the end into the charging slot on the computer. Just kind of slides in...not really my cup of tea. Wish they could've made it like the SXPS1640's or something where it lights up blue when plugged in as well as have a nice fit.

Order was placed for mine today. EDD March 19! Don't mind the wait, it will be here soon enough.

This thread is great!!! Wish I saw it before yesterday as I was in that end of town all day yesterday (saw me some Canada vs Norway hockey!).
