Probably a burned out led, I had some burned out on my original R2. You can either call customer service and have someone come and replace the led board or send it back for a new one

Do the leds last very long in general?

i been to 4 different retail stores around my city to check out the display models and they are all like this... so it might not be a fault.. maybe alienware purposely made it like that...

but funni thing is the 4 of them only had 2 bars in the middle of the spacebar, the left one was half faded out....

    strange...

Yeah the space bar is only lit in about 3 areas. Kinda odd but not really noticeable to me in the dark.

I also have a slight problem I think. When I change the color of the LED on the keyboard to white, at the far left side some of the keys appear to have a reddish tint to them. All other areas on the keyboard are a clear crisp white, except on that far left side. Not exactly sure what that means, or if anybody else notices that when they turn the color to white or maybe its just mine.

That's normal, everyone has that reddish tint for the white LEDs. Not exactly sure what is causing it but it's a uniform occurrence.

And my space bar also only has three of the four areas lit. If you look at it from above, the color is equal but yeah it's kind of annoying to look down under the key and see a nice-sized black spot. Oh well, I'll live with it to play TF2 anywhere I am. :p

Hmm I just posted something about the redish tint near the tilde key. Mine just occurs under the key. It's pretty lame. When I switch to purple, it's pinkkish in that area. Any fix?
