There is a sticker underneath our M11x, which is located between the metal plate and the fan. The heat of the laptop has completely melted all the ink off that sticker... i rubbed it and all the remaining ink smudged... what i ended up doing was ripping the entire sticker off...

Since i only got this laptop recently, i have no idea what was written on that paper now since i didnt notice.. Can anyone out there tell me what it actually said on that sticker??

From what i heard, the sticker below can be easily smudged. its not the heat of the laptop.

    I could be wrong tho..

It was your Service Tag. Don't worry, it's still available in the BIOS.

The ink on the stickers rubs off VERY easily for some reason, but it's no reason to panic. Hop in to the BIOS, copy down your service tag and keep it somewhere safe.

Email it to yourself and archive it, put it in your Dropbox if you use that, etc. Or, y'know, write it down on paper. Ew.

When Dell prinited the service tag they used the wrong printing ribbon and so it rubs off really easy. Almost no pressure at all. If you go into BIOS you can get your service tag, and I believe they can look it up based on your personal information at Dell. When I got my M11X I Put a piece of tape over it. But it's not the end of the world. In the mean time, if your concerned with your temps. Run Hardware Monitor and check your temps to see if they are going to high, ie 85*C. I don't think they will be, but better to check early.

Heat required to melt that would create far worse problems than a sticker smudge ;)

Seems Dell screwed up on the ink being applied to the sticker, or the sticker itself is messed up. Best thing is to write the information on the sticker down and apply a clear tape to the sticker to keep it from smearing further. I am not noticing the problem.

BTW, heat would not melt it, but would dry it and cause it to crack or dry to the point it would rub off. This situation appears to be a case of poor ink application.
