Hi. When I press function and f6 to switch to the Nvidia card, I just get a black screen and I hear the fan kick on. This isn't normal but I'm not sure what it could be.

When switching between the Nvidia and Intel graphics with the FN+F6 command, it will black out since it is turning what you are on to off and turning the one that is off on.

    That is normal.

No, it remains black and doesn't do anything. The screen is also flickering with lines on the integrated graphics card when I switch back.

Wow, the screen is just flickering really badly now. This is all within 10 minutes of using the unit.

Yeah, I was just disconnected from Alienware after calling them. The technical support rep said it might be the mother board. Should I have a tech come by or should I just send the unit back?

Have a tech come by. It is much quicker. Who knows when you will receive it back if you shipped it out. People who ordered their M11x on 2/2 are still waiting for theirs to ship out.

Reinstall the video driver and see if that corrects the issue. Support.dell.com, click on the driver link, enter your service tag and download the driver from the list which is displayed.

If still not fixed, contact support and they will troubleshoot the issue.

It looks like there were multiple issues with the laptop. They are sending over a Tech to replace the screen and the mother board. We tried to apply the video drivers, but I got the blue screen of death.

I'm worried about the techs. I've been reading stories where they don't know what they are doing. Any experiences with them?

I think it's all luck. Some people get the good techs and some the bad.

Lol, I don't want to play Russian Roulette with this awesome laptop. I know if I get a refund, I could be waiting a while before I get another one. I wish Dell would just replace this one.
