So the M15x is designed differently? Thanks for all of your input, but I would appreciate more of an explanation as to why the M15x doesnt have this problem. My current m15x has had several hinge issues, so I am familiar with the problem.

Is yours the older m15x or the newer m15x? Because the errors with the m11x are compared to the "older" m15x - it's commonly said that the "new" version has had the hinges fixed.

Due to the way they did things, the hinges would pretty much start to grind, unalign, and then pop open on the m11x. If you have an older m15x, you'll have problems. The new version should be free of them.

I have the old m15x. I have had it since february '09 (See profile for specs) and I have not had to replace the hinges. They do seem a little weak at this point and I could see them breaking, but I like this computer very much and would gladly fix a broken hinge and panels.

The new M15x is too large and has too little batter power for what I need. The M11x supposedly has hinge issues and IMO is probably going to be too small.

    Solution:
Sony Vaio Z series(13in). Perfect size, functionality, and battery life for what I am looking for.

Really wish Alienware would make an M13x. I have not used any of the new Dell/AW series laptops but IMO they need to do away with all the plastic (especially moving parts) for the price that you pay. I wish I could have added one more AW computer to my collection, but they simply dont offer a lap top that sparks my interest.

I've been having the exact same dilemma. However, I've decided I'm going to get the M11x and completely beef up my Desktop PC.

So I've ordered the M11x to the highest possible specs including the SSD.

For my desktop, i've decided that i'm going to buy 2 ATI 6990's and arrange them in crossfire. I'm also going to wait for the Ivy Bridge processors to come out and buy the best one for my desktop. Subsequently, I'm going to get an awesome motherboard. It's highly likely that i'll get the Rampage II extreme motherboard, although, I'm looking for one with USB 3.0, so I may have to choose another decent motherboard instead - if i can discover a good one! :)

    Finally, I've ordered 3 AW23210 3D monitors to arrange in eyefinity. Can't wait! :D
