    Hi All-

I wanted to respond to the engadget posting yesterday regarding a M11x refresh. Hopefully BatBoy won't close or delete this thread because rumors are running wild in the main M11x refresh thread.

I have a close contact myself within Dell since I manage a $60,000/year contract with them. I talked to him about the possibility of a new M11x coming soon (among other things) and the response was the existing M11x was just released so there are no plans as of yet.

With that said we all know Dell/Alienware/HP/Acer...whoever always refreshes their equipment. Obviously sooner or later the M11x will either go away or a new refreshed model will be released. If you are banking on a June or July release you could end up with nothing for a while.

I was also waiting for the 5870s to be released for the M17x based on rumor. Although it has been rumored for a while that the release will happen in March it's still isn't here. It all remain a rumor and speculation. I bought a M17x yesterday and spent over $3K to get it with the 4870s. My options were to continue to wait and rely on rumors or get something I really wanted since I sent my last M17x back.

I hope this clears up some info for people.

    Agreed.

Always waiting for a refresh = Never having anything

I don't think a refresh after less than 6 months would be a good message Dell would send its possible customers. It'd be a bit like: our first product was soooo bad that we had to make it better immediately.
Besides, what would be the gain of having i3/i5 or whatever? 5-10% extra performance?

Optimus?! Come on! Not a single owner complained about having to go through the "ordeal" of pressing Fn+F6 to switch between the IGP and GPU. The reviewers complained, but is not the same IMHO. Plus, the fan would always be on, chasing everybody away :p

Better screen resolution? (tomshardware) Why? Is the computer too powerful for the humble resolution it has now? Would the Crysis2 experience be diminished by the screen, when the GPU/CPU are so magnificent? Can you imagine this screen with an even bigger resolution? They'd have to provide magnifying glasses too.

I think people just got carried away; M11x is what it is, a small laptop with some gaming abilities, good battery life and a nice look.

Perhaps Dell is running a survey, to see the reactions...?

IMO we will see the M11x get some new stuff over the summer - around the same time the M17x gets new stuff :D
