    Hi guys,
I just got my little beast today. I bought it with the discount that included a free game download (?Bioshock 2) as well as the TactX mouse.
But I can't figure out how to get that game. There was no link or code on the machine or in any of the documentation as far as I can tell.
Anyone manage to figure it out yet? Cheers

It should have Steam installed unless you unticked that box during customisation. You should be able to download the game through Steam

Dang, you got a free game with it and a mouse? If you didn't get any papers or a link in the computer, then I'm not sure. Probably have to call them. Haven't heard anyone getting a free game with theirs.

edit: Yeah, it's probably through Steam, just like Portal. All you have to do is log in your Steam account (if you have one). Then it should show up on your list of games to download. Unless it's preinstalled like Portal was.

I was told (somewhere - can't remember where) that the game is from the Dell Download store. Not sure how to actually get it - mine arrives on Wednesday, if it comes with a code I'll let you know so you can get in touch with Dell.

I didn't have a steam account before. Portal did install as soon as I opened up steam, but not bioshock 2.
I did read abt someone else saying it might be from dell download store. I logged into my dell account but could't see a link or a code

    @timeconsumer
ya it was a sweet deal in the UK for about a week at the start of march. got the mouse nd game with my config for £766 which I was very happy about ;)

Try contacting your Dell rep and asking them how to claim it.
If you find out, could you tell us please? I got the same deal as you, but my rep cocked up the order and ended up including the Logitech G500 instead.

Hi all, I was wondering about the free game aswell. I ordered on the 4th March and its arriving tomorrow, will see if any codes or documents arrive with it regarding the game.

And thewelshboyo if you want to do a swap for a Tactx mouse let me know, I've always preferred the shape of the G5/500 to anything else.

I've just received my M11x today, all is well apart from the damaged mouse they sent with it :(

I can confirm that the free game is portal. All you have to do is load up steam, log on with either a exciting or new account and a box will pop up with the oem download offer.

    Hope this helps.

Good game, but I was really hoping that the rumour was true that the free game was bioshock 2. I've played portal already. Can't complain for nothing though!

UK customers get Bioshock 2 with their system? Any way for us US customers to get that?

My mistake... Supposedly it's on the Dell Download store, and people have got it (so they say) - As is typical, no one actually posted a direct link or anything about it.

If anyone knows where it is or has any more info, please post for us without it or yet to get the M11x with the deals

I emailed my rep asking about this..so far no reply. I'll call him up tomorrow I think. I was hoping that the free game was bioshock 2 and not portal which I got when I logged in to steam.

Well, they've been advertising the ESL Pro deal as coming with Bioshock 2 for free. Since that's the deal I'm guessing most of you got, Bioshock 2 should be free. For everyone else, it's Portal. I'm guessing we're getting Portal as well, but for the ESL Pro deal people, we are also owed Bioshock 2.

Erm, no. They advertised it! They're advertising it with every single ESL Pro deal.
Don't just give up. I asked my Dell rep. He had no idea. He said to ask Customer Services on Monday. I'll update you with the deets.

You only get free Bioshock 2 if you ordered the UK ESL Pro offer.
If you ordered anything else, then tough. No Bioshock 2 for you, only Portal.
Go to the Alienware UK website, click the main link then click ESL Pro.
Then click ESL Pro Special Offers.
It's there. Underneath every single ESL Pro offer, it says FREE Bioshock 2.

I too ordered with the free game and contacted Dell to find out how to get it. This is the response.

"I have been researching the issue with Bioshock 2 downloads today and found out that the download was only active during the limited CEBIT period and is currently inactive. The solution for all the customers who have not managed to download the game during this period is to wait for further news regarding this. Our sales department is currently working on a solution as this is something that does not depend on Dell only but also on the publisher of Bioshock 2. "

I have asked if this is the case why the offer is still showing on the website.

So is the "free game download" on my invoice supposed to be Bioshock 2 and they have messed it up/the offer is closed?

I actually have the Special Edition for my Xbox 360, and I would love to play it on a PC too.

MMM.... I logged into steam and all i got offered was portal - which was already part of my steam account (it came with some nVidia card I got years ago from XFX)

Anyone know how to get Bioshock 2 like we were promised? My invoice only says 'free game' - and the web site doesn't seem to say Bioshock 2 any more, and I didn't take a screengrab at the time :-(

I swear some people claimed they got Bioshock 2 with this deal. Then they never posted about it again. Typical. Maybe it was just a rumour and the free game IS Portal...

Well I got a partial resolution, my rep said he would get a copy sent out to me, however what I actually received was a copy of the original Bioshock in a double pack with Oblivion, can't be bothered to complain again though as I don't own either and I will probably play Oblivion more than Bioshock 2 anyway.

Ahhh - so Portal actually comes free with this system?

I had a code for Half-Life 2: Ep. 1 (which is the first game that I installed on the system) - so I assumed that Portal must have been downloaded with that.

    Excellent stuff. :D

edit: mine was also ordered in the UK, but I didn't see anything about a free copy of Bioshock 2 - although it came with the rather lovely mouse. I loved the original Bioshock on the 360 - but I couldn't play the sequel for longer than a couple of minutes before getting really bad motion sickness, so I had to sell on my Rapture Edition a few days after purchasing it. Urrgh - it makes me feel ill just thinking about it.

(although Half-Life 2 used to do the same - as did Portal - so maybe I'm just a bit of a wuss)

Free Bioshock 2 was specifically mentioned on the ESL page of the Alienware website up until a few days ago. They seem to be a bit slow on changing it, so it's likely that the offer ended and the new 'free game' was Portal. They're still advertising the ESL offer as being a free upgrade to the SU7300 when it's actually changed now and is a free 4GB RAM upgrade instead.

I am glad I am not the only one that has that problem, I feel bad after playing just a few mins of timesplitters on the ps2. Halflife is OK and so are the racing games on the PS2. I can play HALO for hours on the PC so hopefully stuff like mass effect 2 and COD should be OK.

Hello Sean - did you get your system? I remember you saying (on AVforums) that it was going to be delivered either today or tomorrow.

    Yeah - I don't have a problem with most first-person-shooters - only Bioshock and (for a short while - when played on the 360) Half-Life 2.

As for the free game, Bioshock 2 is 'worth more' than Portal - but Portal is by far the better game.
