    Hi All,

have just joined and am looking at ordering an M15x. All the reviews i've read about look good, but I would like to know from you guys whether all the little cons (e.g screen wobble, keyboard flex, fragile body, customer service etc) are worth it.

Let me know your thoughts please. The thing looks bloody amazing but i don't really want to end up with something that costs me an arm a leg (and possibly one or two vital organs), which i'll then later regret having.

Specs I'm thinking about are as follows: -

T9300 (2.5Ghz) / 8800M GTZ / 160GB HDD / 1GB RAM (will upgrade to 4GB on my own, AW charges way to much for this) / Vista HP SP1.

The biggest fear that you'll have is getting a lemon, which is to say, having problems out of the box. In that vain, there have been many disastrous lemons (see the experiences of MrDJ and newfiejudd)

That said, if you get a laptop with no problems out of the box (which really should be a given...) then chances are you won't have any big problems develop and those systemic cons you mention will probably not be dealbreakers. So, really it's just a matter of crossing your fingers

mm, I would agree at this point to wait for the clevo, to at least compare it with the m15x. It should be cheaper (though no price points have been given yet) and it does feature Montevina for sure (better tech yes, *much* better is arguable -- at least in the short term).

that said, if you really love the AW's looks and price isn't a problem, I wouldn't have a problem buying one now

Like they all said. Wait for the sager.

I would say stay clear of the AW's right now. But then again my whole experience has been a nightmare so far.

Cheers for the input so far. will wait to see what the M860TU can bring to the party.

My only concern from reading all the threads on the M860TU is that this has yet to go into production and the tech seems fairly new. so there are bound to be a few teething problems.....aren't there?

Keep the info coming on the M15x. would especially like to here from any UK owners (or former owners!!)

Can't be anymore then the M15x. Teh sager jsut gives you pure performance, no bells and whistle. So I can't foresee so many issues as the M15x has had. But don't quote me on that please.

    Cheers

Oh dear. I'm going to loiter on these forums for another couple of days and if the news about the m15x doesn't get better...I think I'll cancel. This clevo you guys are talking about ... would I be able to get a similar powered machine for the same price? (or even better, a MORE powerful machine). I'm wondering just HOW much AW mark up their laptops compared to other retailers.

TMRL i have aprox the same spec as you:

T9300 (2.5Ghz) / 8800M GTZ / 160GB HDD / 4GB RAM (Windows sees only 3 GB BTW). My experience has been quite intresting so far. I reinstalled my OS twice, sent 3 different mails with different problems - takes a while to answer some of thowse (last reply was 3 days ago from them since then no answer ... Customer suport sucks ;) ) ... Oh and note my system has exacly 1 week.

    So you decide :)
    Cheers.

    EDIT: EU customer

MrDJ.... ouch. I've just skimmed through the issues you've had and it can't have been a very pleasent experiance.

Looking through the other threads on the m15x, it seems that a lot of the current build quality issues are as a result of simple checks that should have been carried out prior to shipping. I'm getting the impression it's mainly owners outside the US who are having this problem and are not currently getting the same level of service. Hope i'm wrong about this!!!!

Second that, and if you want to read another horror storry, look at my thread also (see sig) ;)

    @Rapscallion84

I even think the clevo M860TU will perfom a little bit better since it has montevina which comes with a higher FSB (and the option of DDR3 system ram and quad mobile cpus)
