Hello, I am slated to receive my m15x today, when it comes I will be posting a video of the unboxing, I think there was some requests for that. and if anyone else wants to post a video go ahead and do so.
-
-
Fantastic! Been wanting to see one! You get rep in anticipation of the awesome video to come...
-
i think someone already did a unboxing for it.

I can only assume that it will probably bee near the end of the day for the delivery. But hey I might get lucky.
I want that damn backpack also lol, my old swiss army one has given out, I had it for four years, then the arm strap finally gave out on me. -
Requests:
1. Make sure you don't use some stupid music, use something relaxing (not loud) and definitely not funky ****. I hate new genres. You can skip the music part if you want to.
2. Also make sure you take a longer video, so we can see the machine in detail.
3. I'm gonna rep you if you'll do it. -
Of course,I will be glad too lol, I will play some led zeppelin in the background, that way everyone can agree haha.
-
Neah, some low volume, relaxing stuff works. I don't care about genre as long as it's not house or trance related. I hate that stuff.
-
Relaxing stuff?, it should be some happy hardcore or something with all the excitement he will be having unboxing it lol.
(note: I do not like happy hardcore!)
Failing that. Europe - It's the final countdown.
-
I will give you a whole rep if you zoom in while making the camera do a barrel roll at some point in the video.
-
LOL, How about some Iron Maiden, or lamb of god??
-
lol i like happy hardcore! but hey, whatever sound u use is fine with me.
whatd i'd like to see...
1) video comparing it to household items to get a feel for the size
2) video of it playing crysis on all highs
3) close up video of the keyboard being used to see how the keys press down
any of that would be great! -
Alufoliengriller Notebook Consultant
maybee someone can do a video from fan loudness ( after 3DMark 2006, or Crysis ). That would be very nice
-
If you have this song then it's fine: Scorpions - Crossfire (Instrumental)/Deadly Sting Suite (Instrumental). It's made with Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Or Metallica - Orion...or some Bach, Pink Floyd... or something that doesn't have a frantic rhythm.
-
Lol, hes unpacking an exciting Alienware laptop!, not a 100 year old mirror
.
-
edit: eh, too many posts went by
-
hahaha! what is all this song requests?? just open the damn box and show it to us. a bit of commentary would do. comparison with household items just to see how big it is.. and ofcourse, how it runs crysis!
lucky lucky you.. countdown: T -19days for me..
if i'm not too eager, i might make an un-boxing video myself. -
I don't know...it just pisses me off to try and focus on a video review while some idiot has some trance stuff in the background. It doesn't fit. I gave some bad examples, but there are better songs for such things.
Or just simply talk during the review. It works best, as there are always some people interested in hearing what's there and stuff like that. -
haha, don't worry people the video will be good.
-
Absinthe ... one thing i've been hoping for was a 1200p screen since i've ordered one myself. If you can zoom in on the screen features and show how small everything is (show whole screen, then show portino of screen, etc) then definitely i'll give you rep.
If you go ahead and play crysis on various settings (starting from maximum until you find a good playable setting) then i'll rep you tomorrow too.
Finally, if you sufficiently test screen wobble (typing fast! typing fast with it on your lap! moving it around slightly on your lap!) then i'll give you rep for a week straight. Or even more if i'm thoroughly satisfied. This is a huge deal to me since i'm supposed to be using this thing on my lap in class. -
We should all rep him either way. There aren't many videos even on YouTube (around five or so, two or three from NBR).

And get bad grades...

im going to do a real video review when mine comes not like the crappy ones on youtube.
-
Ok i guess I am not going to get the computer until the 23rd, stupid fedex had the wrong date.. Great..
-
Aww man, that sucks! I was gearing up for the video!
-
Why not call FedEx and complain and demand another carrier ship the laptop? Also demand a refund and a public apology. -
-
@Absinthe42 - You can't really be mad man. I gotta say that .RanT. just threw a pretty damn funny joke out for all of us who were following your threads.
Sounds like a good idea though, why not call 'em up -
anyways absinthe, don't worry about it coming on the 23rd, that's still okay. Much appreciated if you can do the tests for us though.
and of course i want to see crysis testing, but the screen wobble test would be nice since i'd like to take this to class with me. -
And im not angry at him, im just annoyed right now. -
Same here. est 21st but my delivery will be on 26th .. boo

Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
And whenever you get the time Absinthe, please can you let me know what you shot the video with, i'm planning on doing the same when i get my M17X (whenever they release it lol) but, i've only got a 4mp Ixus 4000 camera that does pretty good 3 minute long videos!!!

Ok so I will be getting the notebook this morning. At least if nothing goes wrong.
The truck left for my area around ten at night, and it is only three hours away. So hope I can get it first thing in the morning -
good luck man! im rooting for ya... the first of the 1200p's!
-
I think it's dumb how Alienware refer to the 1440x900 as 720p (IE capable of displaying 720p HD content), yet they refer to the 1920x1200 as 1200p when it's actually 1 080p HD content they are closest too. There is no 1200p HD content. Computer monitors are progressive scan, but it's dumb with the way they've worded it. We don't say 240p or 1536p or 768p.
-
1920 * 1200 > 1080p.
-
.......... yes?
1440 * 900 > 720p, yet the 900 is referred to as 720p
1920 * 1200 > 1080p, yet the 1200 is referred to as 1200p
The two progressive scan HD formats are 720 and 1080, not 720 and 1200.
There's aren't 900 p / 1200 p screens. They are 1440x900 and 1920x1200 screens that are capable of 720p and 1080p HD content respectively. -
keep us posted -
EeekiE, that's just Wikipedia talking. I haven't seen any 1080p or 720p screens yet. Usually there are WUXGA and WXGA+ screens.
-
No it's not Wikipedia talking, it's ME talking about the two progressive scan HD formats offered on Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and HiDef broadcasts! At the moment these are 720p, 1080i and 1080p. You are wrong.
Alienware refer to the 1920x1200 screen as 1200p capable, and the 1440x900 screen as 720p capable. WHICH IS WRONG BECAUSE 1200p isn't a standardised HD format like 720p and 1080p are. 1200p is not a standard Hi-Def resolution, neither is 900p. So why do they refer to the 1920x1200 as 1200p, and the 1440x900 as 720p.
It seems they're correct in saying the 1400x900 screen is more than capable of 720p video, to follow suit they should also say the 1920x1200 screen is more than capable of 1080p video. Yet the advertise it at "720p" vs "1200p" which is wrong.
They either need to call the 1440x900 900p, and confuse everyone with useless information because all computer monitors are progressive scan, or they need to tell the truth in that the 1920x1200 screen is capable of showing the standardised 1080p format.
1200p is not a standardised video format.
900p is not a standardised video format.
1080p is a standardised video format.
720p is a standardised video format.
Which ever way you try to cut this argument you're wrong Mr Bad Ass. Either the 1440x900 should be confusingly called 900p, or the 1920x1200 should be called 1080p compatible.
I've just found out the next leap for a HD video standard is looking to be 1440p. -
To clarify what EeekiE said:
CURRENT VIDEO FORMATS
Blu-Ray: 1080p
HD-DVD: 1080p
HD TV: 1080i
Alienware should only be advertising the native resolution of the screen along with its associated maximum video format, which can not exceed the maximum vertical resolution. For example, 1440x900 is capable of supporting 720p, but not 1080i or 1080p. Likewise, 1920x1200 is capable of supporting all three. -
Yep.
Although most 720p TV's can support 1080i as you're not actually using any more physical pixels, so I'd guess 1080i would also be supported? Our Sony Bravia 720p LCD TV can sustain 720p at 60hz 1080i at 50hz.
Assuming the refresh rate of these LCD's is minimum 60, I can't see why they wouldn't also do 1080i, but then again I suppose anything that gets displayed is progressive scan on a PC? So maybe the best you can do is deinterlace to a nonestandard 900p mash up lol -
No, EeekiE, you're right about resolution. They are labeling that WUXGA screen as a 1200p, though that doesn't exist. However, there is no 1080p/i screen either and that WUXGA should be labeled as 1080p or 1080p compatible (like other screens get labeled, so people don't get confused). They're not the best at knowing what laptops they make...
Another thing I don't get is why they label their screens as widescreen (also known as 16:9) when all the screens are 16:10 (even the resolutions confirm that). -
I never said there was a xxxx*1080 PC screen, just as there is no xxxx*720 screen to my knowledge. Either way I think we can agree Alienware have got it wrong.
-
Yeah, for sure. There is no 1080p screen either. Same goes for the 720p.
-
You could even go one further and say there is no xxxxp in computing. It's taken for a given that they're progressive scan. Just as you wouldn't sell a car as a 4 wheeled motorbike.
I've moaned at AW tech support, let's see what their excuse is. -
If AW tech support is as bad as I've read it is, I doubt you'll get much of a response. Also, where's the vid of the m15x?!
