    Hey all,

ANyone here managed to get Empire Total War running on the new M15X with 64 bit Windows 7? I tried it last night and got all sorts of weirdnesses that usually ended up with me killing the process. The end result though was always a bunch of flickering dots all over the Windows desktop and reboot.

I'm using the latest drivers from NVidia.

I would have posted this in the games section, but I'm specifically interested to hear from M15X users.

    Thanks

I'm a great fan of Empire total war, but most admit it doesn't run on all drivers. I'm currently using 179.81 stock drivers just to run total war on my M17x. But you have a M15x so I'm not sure if that would make a differance.

I have experienced with all new drivers but they just wouldn't work, the results looked simulair like yours, except for the flickering dots all over the desktop. so I rolled back to stock and it's working perfect.

But I'm quite sure it's a driver issue, just play around with different drivers and find out which do work, and keep us posted. :)

Awesome -thanks so much for the tip. I suspected it might be a driver issue but the one thing that threw me off was that the game ran fine on my old Sager with an 8000GTX running exactly the same drivers (last week).

I'll check around and see what I can dig up.

Well that fixed it. I was running 186.81. I just downloaded the beta of 195.39 and everything works as expected. I haven't had a chance yet to benchmark to see if the new drivers have a positive or negative effect overall.

Well, the latest beta drivers fixed up Empire Total War, but the performance was a little odd. I ran 3dMark06 and got a stunning score of 4600 or so, pretty much a third of what it should be.

I'm now working my way through various GeForce driver versions and will start posting up 3dmark scores from each set once I have them all done.

Pinkey117, thanks for commenting on this thread and I'm glad to hear that your configuration runs TW perfectly. I had a M17x with 260m SLI, but it didn't run very smooth in ultra (the SLI just doesn't function :( ).
So probably your lower res, the i7 or new GPU drivers fixes that issue.
Please do comment here how you managed to solve the driver issue, for other TW fans here that are using the GTX 260m card. Thanks!

I'm also very curious about Empire/Napoleon total war on a Single ATI m5870 card at 1920/1200 and i7 with the M15x/M17x R2?
I hope someone with such config could test this? Thanks!
