My m15x arrived today around noon and after installing updates and benchmarks I am finally getting to use it for what it was designed for....gaming. I thought I would give a quick comparison between this computer and my Dell m1530. Specs are pretty much identical with the exception of the video card 9800m gt vs 8600m gt and a 7200 rpm hd on the AW. Impressions so far are:

    1. AW build quality is very nice but not quite what the m1530 is. Lots of plastic on the AW and the lines are not nearly as sleek as the Dell. The Dell has what appears to be an aluminum chasis not plastic. The screen on the Dell does not have nearly the flex or movement that the AW does. The AW screen definatley moves more than the Dell when on my lap. This is a non issue when on a table or desk.

    2. Screen--Dell is LED and very nice. I got the 1440 x 900 on the AW and it is equally as nice.

    3. Touchpad on the Dell is WAY better. Kind of a disappointment on the AW.

    4. Coolness factor is definately in the AW corner. Hands down a great looking machine.

    5. AW keyboard is great. I really like it alot. I also really like the Dell but the AW is better for me.

    6. The AW gets hot, much hotter than the Dell. It is also louder due to the fans attempting to get rid of the heat.

    7. AW has better sounding speakers. They are louder and clearer to my ears.

    8. Gaming on the AW is much smoother. No stutter or lag at all. Very, very nice!

    9. 3dmark 06---AW=10,077 while the Dell=4774.

    10. The m1530 is definately more portable. It has a smaller form factor and weighs less. The AW is by no means not portable, just not as much so.

These are both very nice laptops and I am sure you would be happy with either one. I am really happy with my AW and the 3dmark score blows my m1530 away. Real life responsiveness is also better on the AW. My screen does creek a bit when opening but not too bad. I am sure that I will have more observations over the next several weeks. Feel free to ask anyhting that I have failed to cover.
