Hello, I have owned an Area 51 M15X since February 2008. It's been a frustrating time. I have to deal with an unresponsive keyboard, a wobbly screen, a mediocre touchpad, speakers that buzz when used, and completely nonfunctional touch buttons.

Recently I was playing CoD: WaW and my laptop just completely shut down. Right in the middle of taking over Peleliu Island! A burnt smell emitted from my computer and the power brick made noises when I plugged it in to the computer. I had to send it in, so I was deprived of any good gaming for over a month. Now that it has come back, the Realtek HD Audio makes crackling noises that makes playing games and listening to music unbearable. I have tried every possible fix I found on the Internet, and none of them worked.

I didn't pay $3000 for this kind of product. What I'm asking for is a refund of my M15X to help pay for a superior Area 51 M17. Will you help me out, Alienware?

Sorry to hear of your problems, you may want to call them, also if you do not like the answer the first time call back and get another associate sometimes you get one that is willing to help.

Onto your concern with Realtek HD, have you tried different settings in the Audio Manager for the Default Format sample rate and bit format? Also check to make sure no sound effects are selected under the environment or equalizer settings.

Thanks, I might do that today, and yes I have tried everything concerning Realtek HD.

    Hello Mate

I think AW normal policy is you have to have the same problem 3 times without them being able to repair it. I say this because I had an M9750 which went back to them twice and I repaired it once with parts sent to me by then but the problem still existed and then and only then they took the laptop back and credited me with £2800 back to get an M17 with. The tech guy I dealt with was absolutely brilliant and sorted it out for me. I would ring and speak to him and see what he can do for you. His name is Randall Jimenez. Good ook mate

did you at all get any assistance during this time for the problems you were having?
check your BIOS version and do an update if possible.
