A few days ago when I was looking at laptops at bestbuybusiness.com (government) I did notice something wierd about the Alienware M15X. In the description it is saying "M15X-242CSB/CI7 920XM/4GB/320/15.6 ALIEN" and the price is $1,667.97.

So if you can buy that configuration for that price, wouldn't it be a really good deal?!

Excellent find. Wish this was for an M17x. Anyway, who will be the first brave soul to try this out?

Well, it doesn't really matter what else is there. Only with what we know (320GB HDD, 920XM, 4GB Ram) the price at Dell is:

$2,574 before tax and shipping. That's almost $1000 off.

So, either way, it's a good deal if true.

Yeah it´s a good deal indeed! Asked a guy at best buy, asked him like five times what the configuration was and he directed me to dell.com and stuff, damn he was slow. Didn´t get an answer yet but i will post his answer here.

Don´t know if I´m gonna be the first one, thinking of buying like two and then sell one back in Sweden, would make over 1000USD, that´s a good deal guys!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, wonder if it's a refurb. Building one of these with the Dell EPP site for the same specs (as far as we can tell), it would be like 2500.

I *bet* that the ad is incorrect, and the 920 really should be a 720, that would put it at about 1674 .... almost the same as the ad.

Yeah I agree, the price seems to be way low. But as I said, the guys is going to send be the exact configuration so we just have to wait and see. Would be pretty awesome if it really is the 920 processor in it.

The other thing is that if you click on details, it says specs are not available yet. In the end they could just say the price is only for basic specs, and with the 920 the price will be so and so...

BINGO!!! That should really end all debate, in the world of the legality of false advertisement and the ability to sue succesfully (which is extremely rare) you'd have to show clear intent to mislead, in here they are not clear with the technical terms and can really play fast and loose....

920 could mean just about anything without specifying what exactly "920" is, in another words no they wont honor this, and no big companies such as BB dont even have written company code stating there is a strict policy to honor an incorrect/false advertisement.

Seems too good to be true to me. Regardless if a new M15x is coming out, those specs are amazing for that price (for an AW).

I doubt we'll see a new M15x anytime soon, it's too new. Maybe some light spec bumps (come on Radeon 58xx).

Yeah I don't buy (no pun intended) they would sell 920xm laptops this cheap when the revisions I've heard about too are pretty far away. I'm just gonna call it now misleading advertisement.

Hey even if I'm wrong there lies the upshot, I'll buy one right now if I knew it to be true, even if it only has everything else lower specced including the GPU....

the M17x doesn't seem to be much of a discount or even lesser than the AW site at all.

i wouldn't get my hopes up... as its almost guaranteed a mistake.
    a 920xm chip alone goes for about a G-note.
8gb of ram? well thats another 350$ at the cheapest ...
Doesn't make any sense! lol... It would be cool to get away for a system at that price though :D
