    M15x - Question

    I just really want to know what the difference is between the two resolution types. The only external monitor I have available is my 22" widescreen from dell. The optional (more expensive) monitor choice seems like it would be impossible to see anything on your desktop. Also how is it for games? I am getting this primarily to game on when I am not at home. Sadly it may outperform my home rig so who knows. Last question is how big of a difference is the 2.4 and 2.5 processor? Is it worth the cash?

    Well, the jury seems to be out on whether to get a 1920x1200 screen or a 1440x900 one, but most seem to go with the 1440x900 option.

    Don't bother with the T9500. It's just not worth the extra money.

    Great thanks for the information. My other concern is the AW customer service and what not but honestly a lot of people hate Dell and I can honestly say that everytime I have called the XPS support team my answers are always quick and correct.

    XPS support is based in America, all the other Dell lines' customer support is based overseas and you have to spend 45 minutes going over basic BS just to get anywhere. I spoke with one of the silver/gold lever support agents at Dell a while ago and he explained to me they are trying to bring their support back stateside but unfortunately it isn't economical. The problem is people buy $300-600 systems and expect to get top notch customer support and that just isn't going to happen. All of Dell's high end systems come with great customer support, but it is reflected in the price you pay for the system i.e. XPS.

    I agree, XPS support is awesome. My mom was one of the people that bought the cheap Dell expecting it to be functional which it is as long as you dont actually use it. I will most likely call my order into AW to get a feel for the customer service

    Here is some information that is certainly concering. I used live chat to find out if I can get the 64 bit version of Vista with the 4 gb of RAM. They said they only offer the 32 bit version. So I then asked why offer 4 gb of RAM and got a cookie cutter answer. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

    Short answer: Yup. It's all true.

    Long answer: I highly doubt live chat is based in the United States. If you want a 64-bit version of Vista, the most economical way (if you'd be buying a system pre-loaded with Vista) would be to have Microsoft ship you a copy of Vista 64 with your existing serial. The catch in this case being that not all of the m15x software has been ported over to Vista 64, so you'd be running at a disadvantage anyways. RAM restrictions in Vista 32 are a bit more up in the air - if you'd be willing to take a slight performance hit for PAE, you can access all 4 GB. Otherwise, I suspect that it's just customers demanding 4 GB, whether or not they can use it all. Actually, regarding the drivers and memory, 64-bit versus 32-bit, there's already a thread about this from earlier today.
