I'm curious if anyone has experienced the difference between the 6 cell and the 9 cell battery and can tell me if it's worth the price difference. From what I can tell, it changes the laptop quite a bit in terms of physical dimensions and ergonomics.

If you bought the 6 cell and could do it all over again, would you have opted for the 9 cell? If you were recommmending a configuration, would you urge the buyer to consider the larger battery?

If you have the 9 cell battery, are there things (apart from the extra battery life) that you like or dislike about it?

This isn't a machine to select for long battery life and I do realize that, but I also don't want to shoot myself in the foot for not selecting something or regret needlessly spending money either.

Also, I understand that it adds to the bulk of the laptop but are there any other pros or cons apart from pure battery life? For instance, any problems introduced by the tilt the battery puts the laptop in?

I've searched the site but I've found very little on this, so any input would be great!

I upgraded the battery for the M17 when i bought it. It depends on if you honestly plan to do much without it plugged in. if you do deffinetly the 9-Cell, if you dont, well the 9-Cell is always nice incase you do.

    My opinion ;)

I have the 9 cell in my M15x and I can assure you that it is worth it if you like to move it around. I easily get 3 hours out of it and I would probably get quite a bit more if I minimized my processor use. It might get annoying when you use the computer on your lap however. I got used to it and I am happy that I opted for it.

With it sticking out the bottom like it does, my fear is that it might make it sit back heavy over the knees with a tendency to fall off your lap. Is that a concern at all?

If you allow the battery to hang or go past your knees while it is on your lap, I believe there is a high chance of it falling. When I first started using the computer it was kind of uncomfortable having the battery on my leg, but over time I got used to it and it really isn't even a nuisance anymore. There is also the plus that cooling is improved because now the laptop is propped up ^^
