M15x GPU (GTX 260m) question / announcement

does it have a SLI connector on it. ?

I am wondering it it is the same GPU in the M17x....

I am getting a M15x and i was wondering what people would like me to do with it ?

Make a video guide for the CPU and GPU ?
Add a hard drive ?
RAM?

anything ?


If nobody wants them I don't want to go out of my way to make it

 

Swap your M17x GPU into the M15X, run the throttle stress tests that I have outlined in my thread and see if it still occurs.

 

only if you open yours up and tell me if it has a SLI connector

 

Im not trying to ask for personal questions but Im really curious what your job is Moo A guy always asks to buy defective or old systems, opens up all machines and mods everything Getting both M15x and M17x is impossible to understand too Look at your signature and I see a list of guides. Look at your title and I see "Whatever". Ok, whatever.

I am a 18 year old student and i work @ Subway. I am currently working towards CCNA and all my Cisco IT certs. I really just enjoy helping people and while its annoying sometimes it provides me with a feeling of satisfaction. When i do anything on here its so that some one around the world who i know just like me is looking for that one driver or how to do this and wants a quick solution can find it.

The M15x is for the fiance and the M17x is mine.

 

Man I would love if you made all of these guides CPU, GPU, HDD & RAM.
Guides is just what I need because im a bit noob at OC and replacing things, and I certainly dont wanna damage my M15x

 

where to look for this connector. ive already disassembled my first M15x and posted pics of the insides in the owners lounge.

im also planning on trying out one of the optical caddys if it shows up in time before i have to send back my current laptop. i'm curious to see if the intel storage manager will recognize and let me raid the 2 drives.

its great that you have taken the time to offer help to the community but people would be amazed at what they can do if they actually tried reading the available manuals for their product no?

My M15x is not arrived yet so can anyone tell me if there is even space enough to put in an extra gpu? (GTX 260m in sli :O )

 

well i think it's impossible to have gtx260m sli for m15x
1. no more room for another card
2. even there is enough room, one fan can not cool both cards down to safe temperature

 

im looking to see if i can take the 260 in there and place it in my M17x and put a 5 series in hers

 

5 series in m15x? how about fx3700 or gtx280m?

 

why would i want old crusty G92 arch. ?

those are just old and crappy even the 4 series smokes them....

The 280 is a fx3700 O! i forgot it has a die shrink im sorry for insulting it like that

 

anyway, you are right...5series is much better than 280 and fx3700 indeed...at least 5series supports dx11, it's gonna be a great news if you succee

least the 260/280 could of done is support 10.1

 

I doubt it will work and if it does it certainly won't work flawlessly since the 5 series will need more power than the GTX 260M and that already raises a throttling issue under load.

 

The 5 series is available to purchase seperately already?
@ Brock: Your sig reminds me of my old days when I sold my MBP and was waiting for my M17x, I read hundreds of pages in NBR and posted almost 100 posts using my iPhone 3GS

 

the DDR5 draws less power and the die drink helps pull less power ..... care to try again ?

Another would be left connector is the same as in the 260M, it would be quite excellent!
Does anyone know of M17x Mobility HD 4870 is interchangeable with 260M/280M?

 

yes. The crossfire and SLI cables are different but everything else is the same. You obvious cannot use both at the same time.

 

so basically I can change 260m to 5870 like upgrade the memory? Do I need to change the cooling system as well?

 

Judging by the power at 75W at 260M and 60W at Mobility 5800, it is not necessary. Only a card connector remains the same and constructively chip stayed in the same place.

 

yes you just swap it out, maybe flash a BIOS but that is it

the latest came with the DP to hdmi and it came with some brand of memory ive never seen. my last had samsung.
