I consider myself one of the 'lucky' few who have received an m15x system with relatively low temps on the CPU & GPU and absolutely no downclocking under stress. However, I have just realized that everytime I use battery power, the gaming performance of the laptop suffers. I checked with rivatuner, and discovered that the GPU downclocks (similar to stealth mode) the moment I disconnect the power cord :( .

Is there any way I can prevent this? Thanks in advance :p

if i remember right the unit downclocks the cpu and/or gpu on battery mode to conserve.
i am not aware of how to change the setting, but i think it was discussed at one time.

You have to disable Powermizer. How this is accomplished... I don't know! :D
The question is... why would you want to play your m15x on batteries? (this is, why would you want to play games on batteries?)

It's a battery saving feature, similarly how the processor downclocks itself when on battery mode.

Just remember, gaming on battery will greatly reduce your battery life.

Yes it is the powermizer feature provided by nvidia. And I sometimes play a few rounds of counterstrike while at the local wifi spot without having to find a power source. Also if your running any cad programs you'll need your gpus at full clocks. In any case there are several reasons one would want full power while running on battery. Here is a link to disable it. It involves modifing your registry so becareful and follow directions exactly.

To be honest its a good idea to just get rid of powermizer imo, as stealth mode takes care of underclocking if you need it anyways...

But powermizer is also involved in downclocking the GPU if the laptop is plugged in but the GPU is not being used to its max, isn't it? Wasn't it supposed to keep the GPU at lower iddle temps?

    Thanks all.
I hate carrying around the brick sized power adapter when going for LAN parties so I got 2 smartbay batteries. Thats why I need the GPU running at full clocks when on battery :D

oh and I found this app which allows you to activate and deactivate Powermizer with a few clicks. very handy
