Hey guys, I'm getting ready to get the M15x and I know they are planning on doing a bit of a hardware refresh soon, however, I was wondering if anyone knew the chances that dell would throw on an HDMI port as well. I really find it convenient to have the HDMI and it sort of threw me off when I found out it didn't have one.

Display port essentially works as a HDMI port, I would be surprise if dell adds anything on the case. The update is all about gpu and, hopefully RGB Led 8D

Well no one here can really know for sure. I don't think we're seeing a "refresh" of the M15x anytime soon, just a graphics upgrade. Besides, there are plenty of displayport-to-hdmi adapters out there, just google it ;)

Could you confirm that by using the hdmi adapters it allows you to have sound or only image so? For what i know you only get image no sound!

its with 186 drivers that you have sound and with the latest drivers there is no audio so its a trade off for performance or capability

If you are referring to the Allpowerful M15x, there IS sound on the displayport. you just need a displayport to HDMI cable, then from your sound options set the display port audio output as the default output, and BADA-BING! you have HDMI with both picture and sound. TRIED AND TESTED ON MY ALIENWARE M15x (dell)

You can also set certain programs to use the DP for sound without having to change it to the default playback device. I do that, using 186.81 drivers of course, with GOM player all the time, works flawlessly.

As for performance, I've tried all the drivers since 186.81 and while you may get a few more fps, your eye doesn't really notice the difference.
