    Hey Guys,

Well my M15x hinge finally kicked the bucket. The left hinge is the one that broke, and the right one has a long crack on it. Its a bit ridiculous, because I don't push it very hard at all, and don't game much anymore (less than 4 hours a week). I have treated this laptop very nicely, and I am extremely disappointed with he build quality (that might have to do with the fact that I had a Thinkpad before a.k.a. a tank). My T-Key pops off often, but I can pop it back on again (could I get the keyboard replaced because of this nuisance?). The power cord is also frayed and I want that to be replaced before it breaks. Anyway, I need to send it it to be fixed.

What do I need to do to send it it (I have Ram installed in there not from Alienware), and how long would it take to fix? Also, if I get it fixed, will my 3 year warranty continue, or will I have to renew it? Any help you guys can give me is much appreciated.

In preparation for shipping you should:

    1) Back up your data (I recommend after doing so that you clean install your OS)
    2) Replace anything you upgraded or replaced and make sure it does not appear like you have done anything to it

About the keyboard discuss about it with a support rep, explain how it continuously pops off.

Fixing dates can vary but for your warranty it should just continue.

hopefully you kept the original ram. as X2P said you need to put the original ram back in as if you dont you might not get it back.
contact tech support and ask for an RMA number. they will send this by email.
explain to them the things that need repairing.ie.chassis,keyboard and power brick.
you should have a white sticker that came with the computer. this needs to be stuck on the outside of the original box the computer came in.
once its all packed up safely call dhl or whoever the courier is they use in your area.

also add your details HERE on milcs broken hinge thread.

You do not need the original ram, as long as your compy works it will be fine. To the other posters, if they need to replace the ram, they are able to do so themselves, as long as all the replacements you have done do not break the warrenty you are fine, enjoy :)

i think you will find that AW says all original components are put back in and if not there is a risk that updated components could be lost.
