    I looked around the threads and didn't see any discussing it, so I'm sorry if it already has.

    But I have noticed after upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista (Did a clean install) both my CPU and GPU temps jumped around 6-7 degrees warmer on idle, however under full load they're only about 4-5 degrees warmer. Has anyone noticed this? My specs for the M15x are in my sig. Thanks ahead of time.

    Of course, as of this very moment, just online and running HW Monitor they are as follows:

    CPU:, 48, 47, 50, 48
    GPU: 51-52

    Those seem to be numbers I got usually. Under Vista with all installed updates and such. GPU idled about 44-45 and CPU was in the 43-46 so not that much difference, but it's there. I am also not using a cooler. Maybe I should?

    I'm also using the same NVIDIA drivers which are the latest 195.93 I believe.

    Hmm my cpu temps usually idle around high 40's to low 50's... and now, after running adobe photoshop and stuff, it's around 58-63. Uh... is that bad? I'm not so familiar with the ranges of temperatures that are ' safe ' for this model.

    I would like to know what the safe temps are also. Well, when I rip cds in itunes. My CPU temps do jump a bit usually tothe mid to high 50s. Encoding in Handrake usually mid 70s. My GPU idle like I said stays around 51-52. How is yours on idle?

    On a side note, My Alienware Fusion also does not function in Windows 7. Thanks for getting back to me Roxy.

    Hmm... my GPU usually idles around 47-49... but when I play aion / dragon age, it goes up to low 60's @.@

    Yeah it has been reported by several people that Alienware Fusion / Fx / Etc doesn't work for them after they upgraded to windows 7... I wonder why. Thank god my system came with windows 7 >_<;

    I was thinking of swtiching back to Vista since the temps seem cooler under Vista at least for me. I got 7 in the mail so I figured I'd use it. Now I'm not so sure maybe it'll get better. My GPU runs a little warmer than yours, but that I was expecting when I swapped it out. I wasn't expecting my CPU temps to jump in 7, with the same 720.

    I wonder if anyone else can compare their temps before and after switching from Vista to 7.

    I don't think there's much to worry about though if it only jumped by a few numbers. I wouldn't go back to vista if I were you XD windows 7 ftw ~

    The Core i7 820QM has a rated 100 degrees C max temperature (if I read the Intel data sheet correctly). As long as you see the temps staying below 70 at max load I think you should be ok.

    I couldn't find similar data on the GPU but I've had my GPUs go to >80 degrees on my old dell inspiron which suggests to me that it will be ok running at <70 at max load.

    Just remember to clean your fans every couple of months...

    *update: the 280m apparently has a max temp rating of 105 degrees. You are guys going to be fine with those temperatures.

    That's some good info, thanks X333. Plus reps for you and Roxy. I wasn't sure if my temps were normal under 7 or not. Especially since they were a bit lower under Vista.
