Alrighty, i've had very little problems with my M15x but this one is starting to creep up and happening more and more frequently as the days go by.

I seem to have a problem where it'll stop sending and receiving packets cause slight timeouts whenever i'm playing a video game online. I know it's not the game because this is happening in EVERY online game i play at random intervals.

Also, i don't think it's a problem with my network since when i'm playing with friend's / family, they don't encounter the same 2-5 second timeouts that i do.

Has anyone else ever encountered this or something similar to it? I have the Intel 5300 AGN.

Did you try installing different drivers or using the windows drivers?

    Yup, same stuff.

Thing is, since it's sporadic it's hard to replicate it to actually show people.

It's random making it really hard to determine the cause or even show.

Try upgrading the firmware of your router.

    Hi ArchNemesis,

I too have had sporadic wireless problems with my M15x. Not only does it sometimes have huge packet loss, but transfer speeds are slow, and even internal network connections (to my server, etc..) timeout. Playing a game while this is hapening is impossible. When it does happen, I have found a couple of things that seem to temporarily solve it. Since it is sporadic, none of these seemed to have fixed it permanantly. But here you go:

Try to run your 802.11n router at the 5GHz setting (as opposed to the 2.4 GHz)

Force the Intel WiFi Link driver to only use 20 MHz channels.

Disable 802.11n mode, and use 802.11g

I would guess the 5GHz setting might be a perm fix, but I have devices in my home network that can't connect at 5GHz, so I am stuck at 2.4 GHz. Forcing the driver to 20 MHz channels seems to have worked the longest, while I imagine that switching to 802.11g would also be a perm fix. Not sure what the problem is, but it seems that the Intel WiF Link 5300AGN card is sensitive to interference, which is what is causing the slow-downs. Good luck!

    Rich S.

    Thanks for the reply!

I'm gonna give this a shot, i just got a new router to allow both 5ghz and 2.4ghz Simultaneously since i couldn't get my other laptops in the household running since they are only on G cards.

Anyway, i've definitely linked it to the card because after hosting lan games and watching people complain about stuttering, Others would host and everyone would be fine but only see me stuttering.

I'm not sure what the cause of this might be but i sure hope if others see this issue on their M15xs to please speak up so we find out if it's just an isolated issue or not.

EDIT: Alright, I just set my router to Dual band. Before i only used G and still had this sporadic stuttering. Will post / update if i see that it's not doing it anymore.

EDIT2: Alright, after trying Dual band, setting my card to 20Hz only, Leaving my router at Only G / Only N.... None of this works.

I really hope i don't have to get this replaced....
