Is the heatsink for the 240 compatible with the 280? The 260 and 280 are basically identical physically, but what about the 240?

(Assuming you went with a 240)

that's a good question i would like to know also.... i ordered the 260 in mine its only a 250$ price difference. I want to have my 260 as a backup in case i need to use my warranty back to dell for whatever reason. Maybe Sleey0 can chime in on thermals even though he only had it in for a short period of time before sending his m15x back.

That would be pretty sweet but I've heard the actual gaming performance of a 280 is pretty similar to the card you already have. If you were going to do this and make it worth your while you could just configure with a 240 and save yourself the $350 upgrade and put that toward the 280. If the card you order is only going to be a warranty backup theres no need to get the upgrade right?

You're wasting tons of money, if you buy both a 260M and 280M. How does that strike you as a good idea?

If thats your plan, I would definetly get the 240M as a warranty backup. You're wasting your money going with the 260M. Unless you're worried it might not work, and then you're stuck with a lesser GPU?

In that case he could just send it back. If its not too late you should def cancel your order and reconfigure.

I thought about looking into getting a 280m but having the 260m right now it just doesn't seems like a good use of $300-$500

    I think i would rather upgrade from 4gb DDR3 @1066 to 8GB DDR3 @ 1333 before i upgrade to the 280m

Someone should be the guinea pig for the 4870 in the M15x and order it from Dell when available. 260->280 not really worth it unless your specifically buying to bench it.
