    Ok bretheren,

I need to rant  ... I am ready to buy.. I went up to the site yesterday and today and both the 15 ans 17 no longer offer a blu-ray option, so I opened a chat session... All they would say is that it has been removed as an option..  And they had no way of knowing if they would come back either  .. Has anyone else ever seen this from Dell?

So they ran out and took it down ?

No need for a rant ...

I just noticed that since I just made a build to see the cost. Turns out also the ship date for an M15x is at January 12th now.. just a couple days ago it was at December 30. Bummer.

Does anyone know why they did this? I wish they would just tell us instead of just taking out the option behind our backs..

I dont care much because I ordered mine with dvd...

Probably ran out like The Moo said. But how would they tell us? Theres really no good way but to take down the option. Although I suppose the could put a small message where the blu-ray option was. Something to the effect of "Due to limited quantities...Estimated date for blueray..." Might be better for customer satisfaction.

Glad I got mine when I did then! Well although the blu-ray option was removed, the price of a RAM upgrade dropped significantly. At least for 8GB.

If anyone wants a brand new sealed M15x with a bluray player, I've got one for sale and ready to be shipped out. PM me if you're interested.

This is from one of the Field Technical Services (I was informed that the Alienware facilities located in Florida will be closed from December 21st till December 25th.) So I would guess this is why the change of dates.

they are not built there so that does not matter ....

Its the fact its christmas time its alot busier and they may be closed a few days

also shipping companys may be backed up etc

They are more then likely still ahead of time they just make the EDD longer so that people ask less questions ;)

That is the reason for the rant... They should at least say that it will be a long delay. I am a patient man and am willing to wait, but I can't even get it in the build queue now?? Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait cause there is no compairison to the M17x :D
