My windows 7 M15x rating fell from 5.9 to 5 when I did a retest. Its not too much of a big deal, but what would be the reasons for that (or what can I do to get it up again)?
Thanks

Turn off stealth mode and set power plan to high performance

Would help if you told us which part of the test fell... Your overall rating is the same as your lowest rating.
My computer gets a 5.9 because of the mechanical hard drives, nevermind they're in RAID 0 and I get ~175MB sequential read on them. All mechanical hard drives are limited to 5.9. All my other components are up near 6 or 7.
Moral of the story: WEI is pretty worthless and designed only to get you to buy upgrades to increase your score. -
Agreed, we need to know which part of your score changed. What was done to the computer between. Mine is a 5.9 due to the HDD. Everything else is a 7.3, OCed, but I set everything back to default clocks when done benching.

Before:
Processor: 7.2
Memory: 7.4
Graphics: 6.8
Gaming Graphics: 6.8
Hard Disk: 5.9 (Obviously being the lowest one)
Now:
Processor: 7.2
Memory: 7.4
Graphics: 5.0
Gaming Graphics: 5.1
Hard Disk: 5.9
This quick fall is worrying ONLY because in-game play has become distorted by lag when starting the game, playing etc.. its become very weird.
M15X Stats JUST in case:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 820 @ 1.73GHz (8 CPUs), ~1.7GHz
4096MB RAM
484 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Also I've been putting it on sleep alot recently as opposed to just putting it on shutdown or anything. I only noticed it today when I started Fifa Manager 10 for a game update. -
windows probably has changed your drivers maybe?
-
try running driver sweeper and then reinstall the drivers for the graphics card
-
Have you recently changed drivers or anything? I don't know much about the M15X. Is your power cable ok? On my inspiron 1720 the power brick was on it's way out and my scores dropped because the computer no longer recognized the power brick due to a break in the wire. HAve you checked to see if somehow your power savings settings changed? Or are you on Max performance. WEI isn't a very good benchmark, but your right that at least it gives you an indication that something has changed. and it's narrowed down to the graphics area.

It recognizes it yes. Peformance was high when I checked. Also stealh mode was off yes. I don't knwo why I'd ever turn it on.
The laptop is 2 weeks old at best.. so nothing driver wise has been changed. -
This can happen from time-to-time. If there is some process running in the background while running the WEI, it can cause score fluctuations. Since you are not in stealth mode, do a cold boot (unplug from the wall, remove battery and hold power button down for 10 seconds), and then re-run the assesment.. If that doesn't work, try doing a diagnostic start and running it again. Good luck!

I tried all that.. still no change on rating, however gaming performance has dropped that stuttering so I guess no big deal, but still might be an issue no?

i know what it is now lol
DO YOU have direct x 9 installed, if you formatted and havent installed a dx 9 game since you will score less i proved it today.
got a new core i7 running at 4ghz reinstalled drivers did a WEI. anD BAMM! 6
installed a steam game, empire total war and it went back up to 7.1
so thats why you got low scores.
mannn im a geek -
