One of my pals found this store selling m15x's here in the Philippines:

    http://www.pccorner.com.ph/products...detail&typeid=23&categoryid=69&productid=4602

99,990 Peso is more or less 2,000 USD. The units were non configurable, would not come with a nameplate and will not have respawn discs with it. Smart bay accessories for it were not available as well. It would take the shop 3 weeks to get it here, according to the shop owner.

Upon further inquiry, the shop said that these m15x units came from Singapore. Got me wondering if these things are the real deal. If not, where in Singapore can the shop owner get these for that low price? I have no idea if it's even legal.

A similarly spec'd one from www.alienware.com would cost 2,899 USD before taxes and shipping. That's not counting the backpack this thing comes in if you pay in cash.

How credible are they? I'm not too sure if this should be a reason to distrust them, but I noticed this:

sounds like a scam to me, if the OPs currency conversion is correct.

They do have an m15x in the store. They do offer shop warranty for it as well. Yeah the m51x got me laughing as well :)

But the thing is, PC Corner is a big computer store over here. They even offer shop warranty for it. I'm wondering where in Singapore do they get these units..

    Maybe, flipfire.

Something like ordering everything at the lowest config, and the store upgrading the parts on their own. Maybe the only thing they upgraded was the illuminated keyboard

Are the laptop chassis' built in singapore? Maybe, as an example, Alienware orders 1,000 chassis' but the singapore company builds 2,000, sells 1,000 to Alienware and then sells the others to third party companies for Alienware Knockoffs?

I believe the chassis is made in China. These Singaporean units even come with AlienFX and Command Center.

Found another store here locally selling them, though they just ran out of stock:

should check the fine print that associates itself with the purchase.
i bet there are serious limiting factors with these units.
they may actually be units that have been refurbished and then purchased from an outside company.
    seems odd though.

Yeah, definitely seems odd. Told my friend to just stay away.

Interesting to note that the units cooltoyz were selling were all spec'd exactly the same as well.
