I know this has been discussed, but I can't really find a solid answer on the forums:

    1. Has anyone actually gotten a 9 cell battery? All the people on the phone say it's the same size as the 6 cell. I would want it if either A. it was indeed the same size, or B. it propped the laptop up in the back a little

    2. What kind of lock works with this thing? People are saying the Targus Defcon CL (which was originally an option when purchasing the M15x) works, and some say it doesn't... Are there any that work 100%?

I would like to know as I'm expecting my M15x to arrive soon and want to get all the bells and whistles for it. haha
    Thanks in advance

The only thing I know is that the lock I purchased with my m15x is not working. I called the customer service and after the checked for like a half hour, the tell me that the lock doesn't work with my m15x and sending me another one...

I just got my M15x...and shortly after getting it, I went and bought this lock from best buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...+lock&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1051384145329

It works great, and fits snugly and securly, I like it.

Though, it took me a while to figure out how to use it, apparently, you must press it firmly against the laptop *without* their padding thing (you will see what I mean), and while holding it firmly, you must spin the numbers, and it locks very nicely in place.

I would try to help you guys out but I do not own a M15x but I have heard that the 9-cell is the same size as the 6-cell. Your best bet is to call them.

Wow thanks for the pics..so it's the same size..but even thinner looking? That's nice that it fits the same way as a 6 cell..no crap sticking out. Come to think of it, propping the laptop up in the back isn't that useful for ventilation seeing as the m15x ventilates from the back..but i guess it helps people type..?

If the 9 cell is under 100 i might go for that + a 6 cell smartbay..thats like 5-6 hours of life?

what are you talking about? the 9 cell is a full quarter inch (or more) longer than the 6cell. if you look on the one side there's a small piece of filler plastic (to make the battery flush with the back of the computer) on the 6-cell and on the 9-cell, it's a much thicker portion, to hold the extra cells...

Seriously, take a close look at the pictures. the bottom one he's lined up the bottoms of the batteries... so the difference (where you can see the indicator ont he lower battery) is how much bigger the 9 cell is.

Seriously, I was like "How can that possibly seem like the same size?"
Reminds me of the Dell XPS m1530 battery options, with the 9-cell being similarly proportioned to the 6-cell.

    Dell, people...

Oops, i was biased by what the techs on the phone told me about the 9 cell being 'even thinner' than the 6 cell hah. So..it fits the same?

it connects the same, same slot and everything it'll just have a black piece of battery stick out 1/3rd of an inch out the back between the two fan grates...

if that doesn't matter to you, go for it. if you want something that doesn't look like it was pieced together with legos, then you might want the 6-cell.
