you burn it to a CD. i used nero 7.

on a side note, you need to leave the disc in, so you won't able to burn the recovery partition to a DVD.

...or we could try to think simple, install EASEU partition manager, image the recovery partition to a DVD or external HDD, and have a beer :D

Moo, if you're so particular about saving the partition, dd it to a file, and burn the file.

    man dd

    answers are around.

You could also mount it as an image and install it.

    Or virtualize it.

If you want to virtualize, may I suggest virtual box. It's awesome! And safe too.

why ask here? I bet you could get a better support and answers in http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=332

    Try it.
And don't rush, Linux is not something you could rush to get to know everything or the knowledge you need. It takes approximately a few days to learn and know what the common commands are and what apps are good for.

I have used linux for almost a year now, I like linux.

Agreed. I have Windows 7 64 bit, Ubuntu 32 bit, XP 32 bit and Mac OSX Leopard all virtualized in Sun VirtualBox.

so does this mean you have all loaded on your machine, but can run this program and basically run another OS inside it?

Exactly. Sun VirtualBox is like VMWare for fanboys.

i have never used either of the programs.
just wondering how one could run xp32 and then run on top of that say win7?
seems there would be driver conflicts, but since i am not knowledgable on this i can only speculate.

I understand. VirtualBox, like many other VM programs, Virtualizes the hardware of a system, then translates it to the actual hardware.

the drivers you'd need on the VM system would be for VirtualBox, not for your actual hardware.
