well first of all i have had my M17 since february. this isame issue has been happening since the first week i got the laptop. "Display Driver atikmdag stopped reesponding and has recovered successfully" when this happens the game i am playing crashes to desktop, or the whole PC freezes.

I do not have a quad core processor. i have tried numerous drivers (using driver sweeper everytime i installed a new driver) but nothing seems to fix it.

any idea what could be causing this? i have tried 9.4, 9.5 and 9.6. right now i am running the stock alienware drivers.,

I had that error on occasion with 9.6. I haven't seen it again on 9.7 drivers, however I have had WoW lockup on me on occasion with 9.7 drivers. I also did not notice that error with 9.5 drivers, nor the stock (very outdated) AW Drivers.

Not sure I answered your question other then to say "try 9.7 drivers?"

Check if you have KB952287 installed (windows patch) and uninstall it, fixed the issue for me.

You can always redownload it if you "need" it.

just load windows 7 and use the ATI drivers (9.7 is current) they are guaranteed to work and offer great performance

I have not had a happy mob modding experience yet Moo....always ends up being unstable and wreaking hell on my OS it seems. The windows 7 route with drivers ready from ATI was the best one for me - best performance and most stable

Well my OS was horribly unstable and I had issues both installing and uninstalling. You can ask Dondadah88, we spent many hours late into the night troubleshooting this stuff

maybe I was just lucky....anyways, like I said, was night and day when I used windows 7 and official ATI drivers

Same here, no issue so far with moddings on vista. Btw scook, win7 drivers scale properly when you use lower screen resolution ?

Why would I use a lower resolution? I got 1920x1200 to use it...haha

I actually didn't play a single game on whitebook while I had it with both gpus haha, only benchmarked. But I remember always being happy with it....

First time i had to lower the resolution and noticed the scaling problem was with Crysis since i hate playing games with fps less than 40-45 :p

Just checking if the CCC works properly in win7 (since in vista does absolutely nothing), talking about attribute settings, to know if im gonna need to mod the drivers in win7 as well (modifying the .inf not mob modding them) :p

I've been having the same experience lately, and its really bugging. If I upgrade to win 7 atm, will it delete my HDD?

have you all tried e-wrecked's 8.12 driver if you don't care about overclocking and benchmarking??

No need to go back to 8.12's since full scaling tweaking is possible with newer drivers :p

Its not :p But you can add 4 lines in the .inf and make it scale properly :)

I just hope it works properly in win7...
