Not sure if anyone has noticed it before, but AW has just started offering M17 (up to C2Q, 8GB RAM, xFire 3870s, etc...) with Ripley design for lid. It still has the rubberized soft finish and IMO looks much better than Skullcap and original glossy finish from Flextronix.

i received my M17 december 10th.
does anyine think its possible to swap it for free for the RIPLEY design? -
no not for free you'll have to pay
-
I still think the skullcap looks better.... the new one is too simple
-
While the Ripley design looks great on the m17x; its chasis went with the design. Ripley with the M17 chasis design, not so great.
-

TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
The M17 is a rebrand. Same chassis as several other laptops...Alienware just added their own lid and the rubbery finish.
I don't think it looks bad. It does look bad A$$ though! -
except AW had exclusive rights to that version of the chassis...that's why you couldn't get a barebones m9750 at one of the notebook resellers...
M17 Available with Ripley
