    Hi guys!

I'm still thinking on replacing my current desktop with a powerful laptop and so far the M17 seems like the best option for me. It has a decent amount of punch and it looks good, I like the matte cover and glowing keyboard. Only thing that concerns me is all the negative posts from M17s with various problems and customer service. I really don't want to order the lappy to Finland just to find out it's not working properly. :(

Anyways, I'm going to use the computer mainly for gaming but it also needs to handle some audio/video editing tools and Photoshop etc. for work and school stuff.

The question is, how long does the M17 battery approx. last if you turn down the settings? Like a power saving mod or something like that. I was thinking on situations where I need to travel, do some light work like using Word and surf etc.

    Thanks!

Around 2 hours plus on power saver mode, bluetooth off, alienfx off, wi-fi on coming off fully charged.

The battery icon is not always accurate but I had approx. 2 hours 33 minutes before it hit critically low.

IMO, the m15x is ideal if you can't always plug in the adapter (smartbay is legit). However be advised about the m15x issues... Not trying to down any m15x owners out there, personally I love the laptop and I was planning to purchase this myself (one of the nicest designed pc laptops i've seen) but I decided to buy the m17 because it was released only (about?) a month ago where as the m15x was released earlier this year. I don't know if this only concerns me but I always go for what's new.

The m17 is basically a desktop replacement, it's fairly large and packs a big punch, although I wanted a laptop for college, it's not ideal for moving it around alot (huge adapter, huge laptop) but I'm fine with that. It's definitely a lot better than moving a desktop around.

The m15x is ideal for a laptop: it's powerful, lightweight, looks amazing.. I don't doubt it turning heads anywhere you go, although not so durable *hinge issues*.. the smartbay features are a gem (swappable battery/hdd = huge plus)

Hope that narrows it down a little for you.

    PS.
There's like 5, out of the thousands of m17 owners out there. Here's a tip, it's more likely for people to report issues about something on forums rather than praising it because the people who are enjoying their laptops are too busy playing with it.

    Thanks for a reply!

2h33mins isn't bad, I guess that's acceptable for that monster. Too bad there's no smartbay option for M17. I guess I have to go with extra battery then, just in case. I don't think the m15x is for me since I always go for the new too. :) (And it seems so fragile)

Now the hardest part, waiting for January and my very own M17. :|
