Are you using any extra cooling on your laptop since the overclock, Talon?

No, I'm not using any extra cooling. The GPUs hit about 85C, the CPU 60C.

What's the difference if you run the test with or without Crossfire? The m1730 scores 315 FPS with one card with fps_max set to 1000. If I enable SLi, it goes down to 60. If I set AA to 4X with SLi enabled, I get 330 FPS. Weird, I know...

CSS is an old game now, with an old Engine, so.. its not gonna support SLI very well, same thing goes for the call of duty series.. built on Quake 3 Engine

Yeah, my fps cap out at 300. Where do you enter that command? I know with all settings absolutely maxed at 1920x1200 I get around 222 fps. I have no idea how to disable one of the cards, sorry.

Hey, try using either the 8.11 or the 8.12 drivers. my GTA IV benchmarks were also stuck around 23fps with the 8.10 drivers. 8.11 bumped it to 27fps and 8.12 to 28-29 fps. OCing my CPU (to 300mhz higher) brings it to 32 fps (with the 8.11 drivers). Also, crossfire doesn't seem to work despite being 8.11 or 8.12 drivers; I physically took the slave card out of the system, and I still got similar scores. Your system in particular should get much higher than mine with that X9100 too.

GTA IV DOES support CrossFire, but not SLI currently. It's by far not the worst port ever, not even close. The game looks stunning, even at low to medium graphics settings. No glitches, no hickups, no crashes, nothing. I almost didn't buy it because of some forum gossip saying the game essentially didn't work at all, but I have seen no issues.

@Ichime: What graphics settings are we talking about? My X9100 is OCd to 3.33Ghz, and at full GFX settings & native res, I cannot achieve those numbers. I'm using the newest beta driver (can't remember exactly), modded with Mobility Modder.

OK My Benchmarks thus far, no OC'ing of course:

    T9400 CPU

    xfire GPU

    4gb Ram

    8.12 Beta Drivers

    3dMark06: 12036

    3dMarkVantage: 6131

All I've done so far. Going to try E-Wrecked's 8.12 Proper and see if that improves things.

Hmm, that's odd, and you definitely have a better processor than me too (this game is very CPU dependent). Here's a run I did just now:

    Statistics
    Average FPS: 27.16
    Duration: 37.49 sec
    CPU Usage: 94%
    System memory usage: 55%
    Video memory usage: 100%

    Graphics Settings
    Video Mode: 1920 x 1200 (60 Hz)
    Texture Quality: High
    Render Quality: Highest
    View Distance: 10
    Detail Distance: 100

    Hardware
    Microsoft® Windows Vista" Ultimate
    Service Pack 1
Video Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870
    Video Driver version: 7.14.10.630
Audio Adapter: Speakers (2- Realtek High Definition Audio)
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz

    File ID: Benchmark.cli

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I OC my GPU to 2.7ghz, I get around 32 fps

Ohhhh, the little built-in benchmark. I was using in-game FRAPS benchmarks. I'll try your setup and see what I get.

EDIT: How are you running the textures on HIGH? That uses more VRAM than the machine actually has. My bench won't even run.

In your GTA root folder, create a .txt file called "commandline" via notepad and put the following in the first line:

    -nomemrestrict -norestrictions

You should be able to select high as a texture quality option regardless of the amount of memory available after that.

Edit: wait, you mean the in game benchmark tool doesn't run at all or that GTA won't allow you to select high as a texture quality option?

No, I've already got the commandline.txt thing going. I can select the same options you have in your post, but it uses ~850MB VRAM, which I obviously don't have. The bench won't even run.

I see. I had that problem a couple of times. What I do is set it to 800x600 with textures on high, run the benchmark, then after, set it to 1920x1200 and try it again. Or, I do it on medium at 1680x1050, then jack up everything in-game.
