I bought an Alienware computer recently and they said it would come CrossfireX ready. I looked at my Catalyst control center and could not find a CrossfireX option! Anyone else have this problem? I have two HD 3870s.

Right click the ATI tray icon.

Hoover over one of your ATI cards there.

Last options should say: CrossFireX (tm) Settings

[Edit] how to enable or disable crossfire..no idea..sorry.

CrossfireX is enabled by Enabling "Catalyst AI" in the ATI CCC.
It's not as intuitive as nVida's "Enable SLI" checkbox.
Your device manager will show two cards when both cards are installed.

Whats the difference between "standard" and "advanced" in CCC at Catalyst AI?

Of course disabling catalyst a.i will mean the second card wont work so always keep it on.

'Standard' uses whatever frame rendering mode the game supports, either split frame rendering (SFR) or alternate frame rendering (AFR). Games that don't support CrossfireX well generally will have to use SFR. The disadvantage is that AFR is more powerful and will give you more frames a second.

'Advanced' forces alternate frame rendering no matter what game you're playing, which generally improves performance but in some cases can cause graphical errors.

That's my knowledge of it, anyway.

There is no option to enable or disable crossfire in the Catalyst manager,it com enabled by default, the only way to make sure it is running is by checking the device manager that both video cards are showing and run benchmarks

Hi!, dont worry that happen to me too. I get my M17 like 2 weeks ago. And everywhere that I look I just saw one video card. The solution was update the drivers to the last version, and it works.
    Good luck
