M17 Green EDITION PWN-age (Pics)

i purchased a m9700 lid brind new and installed it .....

i can make a guide if needed all you have to do is unscrew the black frame and then the lcd and un tape the wires then take the old off and then tape it all back up n scre it together. Took 10 mins

 

thats expected that it would work.

the Arima W840 DI still uses the same LCD chassis design from the previous models.

I am not a green kind of guy, but that looks nice... cobalt blue would be even nicer.

P.S. the Clevo D900's can use the AW M7700 LCD casings as well. My friend turned his Sager 9262 into an AW with a Blue M7700 casing... and modded the alien head so the lights would work.

the m7700 uses a different plastic lid body. The hinges are different. Sure you can make it work with a ton of body work, but its not a swappable lid like the one you bought

My "extra" lid just arrived today. Advertised as an m9700, but is either from M9750 or M17 cause it has the cool rubberized finish that is like new. Glad I spent the $19. Any suggestions on a color scheme? I'm planning on keeping the rubberized finish on the "big eyes" or the other part.

Gonna make the Alien head a different color too.

the alien head led's are on a circut board, the resistor and led are in a circut so me and my friend are going to try to make something to change the led's with we are putting multicolor

Yeah, black head with green LED would look sweet along with your keyboard illuminated green!

Im thinking of going a little subtle on mine. Like, a dark charcoal semi-metallic gray with the stock black where yours is. Then apply gold leaf to the alien head backlit with a red led.

I've got grandkids, I can't get too flashy! lol

Rob, i would paint the large middle section a dark grey, then the flat area between the "fins" a colour to match the alien eys, leaving the fins and angled curved strip black. oh yesssss

 

If you do a mirror-like finish (like the one in m7700) it gonna be AWESOME.

I have to say you made me think again about getting into a W90 lol.

EDIT: The light in the alien head works?, did you swap the webcams or is just using the webcam of m9700? (who is only 1.3mp i think).

as cool as the m17 is in black (or the m17 in silver) I want a blue alienware! or green time to look for a cheap replacement lid....instructions please!

 

red would be sick, but I think the 9700 only came in green blue or silver, the 9750 was only in black matte...I really like the way the blue looks too, nicel one!

 

you can paint it red quite easily

 

My vote still goes to a pasty-white flesh tone with the bellybutton drawn in at the center bottom...for the malnourished/anorexic look.

I don't know what Moo paid for his but my black rubberized lid only cost $19 and had free shipping.

 

the green one with shipping was 34 and the blue one i paid overnight to fix it for my friend for 70 total

yup sure are in a week or 2 i do have senior finals ...the led are built into a circut board those little built in diode and there is 6 of them so me n my friend are gonna make a small circut with resisitors to power multicolor leds
