Does anyone have a M17 with an x9100 or QX9300 on order. I'd like to see some numbers with a loaded M17 to compare. I'm still holding out hope that AW will either ditch the ATI and or offer Nvidia as an option.

if you want to see a 'loaded' m17, try taking a look in the OCZ forums in the 'other manufacturers' category. There's plenty there.

As far as it seems, the alienware M17 is based on the same "Arima" barebone as the OCZ version. The looks differ that's all.

The OCZ version is being tested with 9800GTX. I don't think ATi is going down very soon.

Good advice -- I keep forgetting the AW is just a clone book with an Alien Head on the back :) and somewhat questionable customer service (long time AW buyer here and have earned the right to question AW's support). I'll take a look to see what marks its getting. I would lean towards AW due to Dell and hope they offer a complete care type of warranty for the M.

Not saying they will dump the ATI -- but at least offer the Nvidia SLI option.

Nope. You can have a laptop that offers either a nvidia card and two ati cards, but not the option for both brands in dual gpu.

    Example:

    Options: 2 x 3870
    or 9800M GT

    NOT: 2 x 3870
    or 2 x 9800M GT

That would require a motherboard change and ALienware is not prepared to do that.
