I know it sounds funny, but there have been a few users that tried to force the power connector into the coaxile port.

    wow thats really helpful.
if i were to but a bluray drive to replace my dvd drive in the m17,
what are the dimensions the new drive would have to be?
or what are some of the exact drives i could buy?

I think laptop dvd drives are standardized, so any drive off of newegg or some other online store should fit right in, since the size is standardized.

nope 2.5" HDD comes in two different dimensions
9mm and 12mm - Alienware like many other laptops supports 9mm, just be sure that you get yourself a 9mm one. 3mm difference can create trouble sometimes.

He was referring to the disk drives (DVD, bluray,etc..), which are standardized for laptops, whereas the 12 mm hard drives you refer to were never meant for laptops anyway but that's another story :). He could buy a dvd drive off of newegg and it would work perfectly.

Hmmm... I wondered what the extra cable was for in the PCI-Express area (m15x) as the M17s look exactly the same...
Maybe I can stick a TV Card in? (If anywhere on earth sells em :))
