that is the balck case pretty straight forward
![]()
thats on the back its what holds the quick touch panel on you will have to revove it because the quick touch panel holds it in place
![]()
right near the middle it will get caught just lift the quick touch buttons enough to pull it off
![]()
remove the screw in red not the ones in yellow yet they hold it on
![]()
self explanitory
![]()
this is what it looks like make sure to remove all the stuff
after you remove all the stuff and set it on the lid remove the 2 screw at the bootom and off comes the lid line up the new one and screw it back in
hinge shot
how the m15x should have been built![]()

Nice job with the guide.
Just wondering, who put the yellow tape to hold the wires? You or Alienware? -
alienware that is what it looks like when you take off the lcd for the firts time ... maybe a little cleaner when i put it all back on it was a little messy
-
I didn't expect them to use tape. I don't know if it's just me, but it looks unprofessional especially for a company like them.
-
really it doesnt need tape but it does make it look neater
it has little hooks for wires -
why? because it's the easiest and most practical solution for attaching small cables to flat surfaces?
-
) And at least they should have been placed and sized nicely. Just my opinion
-
they were alot more organized before i touched them but yes that tunnel idea would have been nice
-
awesome man nice job
-
Great job Moo!
There is actually a little more to do than the LCD panel change I did.
Sry, got the dreaded "spread it around" again. -
that makes me want to hack those wifi antenas...

bump for guy

so I will need to move the wifi antennas from the existing lid to the new one right? same for webcam (if i want to stay 2.0mp vs the 1.3mp that will come on the new lid)
And the light behind the alienhead, any news on whether or not this is the same connection behind the logo in a whitebook?
Awesome guide btw. -
the light won't be the same... just find a lid with a Alienhead in it ....

aight. just ordered a black lid with alienhead and an extra bottom as well while i was on ebay (I'm assuming m9700 bottom is gonna fit a whitebook - they are same shape for sure lol)
-
Flextronics makes them all
-

But that doesnt mean they are all the same size lol. although I think I am safe this time.
I been busy hehe, check out scores in my sig. -
the green lid was a m9700 lid
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I know that. both the lid and bottom I got are for m9700
-
bottom ?
Like the palm rest... errr i hope not -

the cover, where we cut intake holes in project freeze.
-
O ok i thought you meant palm rest because they don't fit
-

So the m9700 bottom cover (the removable panel to get to ram/cpu/gpu) does NOT fit the M17. Same size and shape, different mounts and screw holes - so at least that is known for sure.
Installed the Black m9750 lid and it is gorgeous. The Alien Head even lights up so that is awesome too. I peeled the wireless N antennas (and the adhesive that held them in place) and moved them along with the 2MP webcam to the new lid pretty easily.
Awesome guide and thanks! -
Awesome, that is what I need!!
-
Good to head I'm here for help
