that is the balck case pretty straight forward

thats on the back its what holds the quick touch panel on you will have to revove it because the quick touch panel holds it in place

right near the middle it will get caught just lift the quick touch buttons enough to pull it off

remove the screw in red not the ones in yellow yet they hold it on

    self explanitory

this is what it looks like make sure to remove all the stuff

after you remove all the stuff and set it on the lid remove the 2 screw at the bootom and off comes the lid line up the new one and screw it back in

    hinge shot

    how the m15x should have been built :D :D :D :D :D :D

Nice job with the guide. :)

Just wondering, who put the yellow tape to hold the wires? You or Alienware?

I didn't expect them to use tape. I don't know if it's just me, but it looks unprofessional especially for a company like them. :p

why? because it's the easiest and most practical solution for attaching small cables to flat surfaces?

Well, not that, but I expected it to look more like the m1730's where each wire has its "tunnel". (Not sure if that makes sense :D ) And at least they should have been placed and sized nicely. Just my opinion :D

    Great job Moo!

There is actually a little more to do than the LCD panel change I did.

Sry, got the dreaded "spread it around" again.

so I will need to move the wifi antennas from the existing lid to the new one right? same for webcam (if i want to stay 2.0mp vs the 1.3mp that will come on the new lid)

And the light behind the alienhead, any news on whether or not this is the same connection behind the logo in a whitebook?

    Awesome guide btw.

So the m9700 bottom cover (the removable panel to get to ram/cpu/gpu) does NOT fit the M17. Same size and shape, different mounts and screw holes - so at least that is known for sure.

Installed the Black m9750 lid and it is gorgeous. The Alien Head even lights up so that is awesome too. I peeled the wireless N antennas (and the adhesive that held them in place) and moved them along with the 2MP webcam to the new lid pretty easily.

    Awesome guide and thanks!
