I'm trying to poll people as what case and / or sleeve they use for transporting their m17 / m17x laptops. The people that use the bag / backpack style cases, do you put your laptop in a sleeve, or just put it straight into the case?

    Any recommendations?

Due to the size and weight I prefer the backpack styles.

If you have a bag that properly fits the notebook, then I just would put in the padded notebook sleeve. I have seen where people did not have a proper backpack that contained the correct sized sleeve for their notebook so they purchases a sleeve for it and just slide the notebook into the middle (different pocket) of the back pack.

Its all up to you and if you fee comfortable with the padded sleeve or not.
I have never had issues with just using the padded sleeve in the notebook backpacks without an additional sleeve.

Just make sure you read the internal dimensions of the sleeve and compare to the size of the notebook before you purchase..

Unfortunately for 17 inch notebooks there really isn't that many choices out there.. Well not that many that correctly fit anyways.

For choices you have the alienware backpack, targus xxl, slappa bags, Swiss gear (watch the actual sizes) and a few others.

If I can find a properly fit swiss gear one, I am definitely going with it. I like how they look and don't necessarily scream " I have an expensive Notebook".
