I bought a used M17 in Germany.
Now the power supply is damaged and I need to buy a new one.
I called up Alienware.... and guess what... they said, that there is no warranty anymore on an Alienware notebook when you don´t buy a brandnew one directly from them !!!![]()
This notebook is only 4 months old. What a rip off !!!!!![]()

Where can I get a m17 power supply ? I need it urgently. Please help.
Thanks

you should be able to get a universal adapter at pretty much any electronics store...just make sure the voltage, polarity, etc is correct, I mean really make sure it's the same - using an adaptor with too much voltage, or reverse polarity would be a very bad thing for the laptop...
-
look up a white book ac adapter(its the exact same) proably on ebay or if it is the internal power supply look up a whitebook power supply and call xotic pc or dark smiley or some other white book reseller
-
You could also get a D901c/Sager NP9260/9262 power supply seeing as it's the same one the W840/M17 uses.
-
I tried already the power supply of the D901c (a friend of mine has one) but the plug doesn´t fit into the M17
The power supply itself is identical.
I also tried ebay, but there is nothing available.
On the OCZ website it says "EOL" , which means "end of life" I believe.
Are the power supplies of the 9700 and M17 identical ? Or what about the mALX (I mean this huge 19" monster) ? -
EDIT: i know the 9750 PS is not the same
call the company

The Terms and Conditions of Alienware are really a rip off from my point of view. Besides, I called up OCZ yesterday and they confirmed that the 840i (M17) is out of life. This is really unbelievable. Only if something is broken, they will replace parts but if something gets lost... bad luck for the customer who paid for the machine !!!
I will do some more research regarding the M17 power supply. If I find a solution I will post it. -
You could go here and get this one, if your good with a solder iron and still have the old one and the cable is good just swap them out.

MySn in germany sells the same laptop under a different name. They sent me a replacement heatsink with fan, so i am sure they will also gladly send you a new power adapter, battery or anything you want.

Hey Tylery,
Use extreme caution if you are considering a universal adapter.
Most don't have enough power for the M17, and the one's I've seen that do, don't aren't and exact match to the Volts and Amps.
If you can find the AC adapter that is the correct one but has a different plug, see if you can find and adapter or splice the adapter to the cord.
As you've found out, finding the brick isn't the hard part. -
Umm, call AW and ask to buy a power supply from them, they will let you order one even if you do not have a warrenty
-
about power supplies... there isn't an universal one that is lighter and smaller then the original one? :| I hate to carry around my power brick. It's really a brick! heavy and huge
-
I wouldn't risk it. Lack of a steady supply of the rated votage and amps can be just as dangerous for electronics as too much voltage and amps.
Laptops in general have many electrical components and aren't exactly known to be the most robust devices out there. Not to mention the warranty would surely be void if any damage occurred. -
