I know m17's had issues with stuttering and so forth with the q9000 and q9100 previously.

Did these ever get resolved? Did windows 7 help? Do you still have issues if you dont overclock the cpus?

    Best Wishes,

I have a Q9000 and since installing the beta video drivers and removing the
Nvidia storage drivers I am stutter free and my lappy runs like a top, well, other
than having the hard drive crash. Fortunately I have a cloned drive.

We are talking about the M17 here mate......not the M17X.

No steven......the stuttering issue was never officially solved but some users reported success with different cooling mods on the heatsink and underside of the notebook.
Im sure Windows 7 will not cure the issue.
Just check that you have the latest B14 BIOS as one of the latter BIOS updates was supposed to fix the issue.....most users said it did not but some said otherwise.
    good luck.
