I'd like to see exactly what kind of advantage the M17x has over the M17. I've seen a few real-world benchmarks, but mostly 3D'06 and Vantage. If some of you M17x guys (any spec) get a minute, run a few benchmarks with the specs I have listed, or run your own, and I'll try a bench with your specs. If this takes off, I will keep this first post updated so there's no sifting through posts to find information.

Both with max settings ofcourse apart from AA which you can see which one is maxed and which isnt ;) Running a CSS benchmark now. Note im using M17 too so its basically to have extra benchmarks in case someone has a duo cpu.

Jesus lol let it go! Yes the M17 is truly a powerful machine and will handle most games as well as the M17x... The reason the M17x was released was to include some new and asked for features the people wanted! Dellienware laptop finally a colaborotive effort... It sports MXM 3.0b slots, slot loaded disk drives, new design and improved cooling system, and 3 gpu's 2 dedicated SLI and an intergrated for enhanced battery life when needed... I keep seeing thread after thread of people trying to compare their M17's to M17x's

Take a step back butter :p Im sure there are a lot of people that have the m17 and might be thinking to go for the M17x, im sure this kind of threads will help them see the benefits, its not only for comparing our egos :p

You are probably right, I may have interpreted the text "I'd like to see exactly what kind of advantage the M17x has over the M17" wrong since I keep finding threads people have made making challenges to M17x owners... I was just getting a little sick of it... sorry turbodtalon... I'll be sure to get my benches up when it arrives ;)

Theres only one more thread about game performance between those two notebooks. And if im not mistaken no M17x user posted any benchmarks in that one :p

The rest are for m17 only, for M17x only, and 3dmark scores not actual game performance benchmarks. Would be nice if we could make one thread with all the info but still :p

Coolmine, specs on that CS:S Stress Test? If that's everything maxed, I'm impressed! Do you remember how to take the FPS limiter off? I did it a long time ago.

Yeap, everything maxed, think the command to remove the cap is fps_max 1000 (well or any number above from what your card can render :D).

Doubt CSS needs that much cpu power so it probably comes down to windows configuration (since mine is a bit tweaked) :p And luck, disk activity, something that remembered to cached something etc :p

turbo. i'm not sure if the m17/whitebook is going to win not even close. i remember going against the 9800m gtx sli (sager np9262)and i got destroyed. then i went up against the 4870 crossfired (w90) and i couldn't even put up some of my numbers.

looking at the 280m gtx, it beat the 9800m gtx so i don't think it will be a fair comparsion with the 3870 CF.

Well, that's kind of why I'm doing this. When your scores got smashed, were they real-world benchmarks, or synthetic 3DMark stuff? I'm not trying to win anything. The M17x is newer tech, plain and simple.

everything above except farcry2. i got that number just before i sold it. it's exactly even on the 9800m gtx but that's after 2 months of running and running and running.

but there scores were way to high for me. vantage the 8800m gtx sli going 8500 on gpu stocked. 4870's 10,100 stock 9800m gtx was 9,900 stock. and the 280m gtx was 10,???.

dmc4 was atleast 20fps more on each run.

    the w90 got over 17,000 on 3dmark06.
    the np9262 got around 16,8??

everything was done with quads to make it even.
    me qx9300
    w90 qx9300
    np9262 qx9650

what games are you looking for to compare it to?????

Anything is fine, massive overclock or everyday settings. I'd prefer real-world benchmarks, using FRAPS or a similar program. And you don't have to do your benchmarks with the same games as me, I just benchmarked what I own. Your Vantage benchmark is insane, so I'd like to see what your rig does real-world. Your Crysis bench at Very High in DX10 is awesome too. Throw whatever you've got at me, and I'll add it to the first post so it's easy to find. Make sure you give me your specs and clockspeeds so everything is as accurate as possible. Thanks man!

Yes i noticed that too atleast from comparing it to Mandrakes scores even though i've gotten higher 06 score than him, his sm2 scores were higher but my cpu score made the difference. Same could be why i could not match him in the vantage, i'm about 200 or so points behind him in vantage but he was able to oc his gpu more, his core clock for his 11.9k run was at 690. I cannot get past 675 before drivers start to crash.

I used the commandline.txt to remove memory restrictions, and I was able to get 35fps on the benchmark with your settings and my GPU/CPU both OC'd.

The funny thing is...I far exceeded the amount of graphics memory that I have available. I was using 1164MB, and I only show 497MB as usable. Don't know how that's even possible.

You can greatly exceed the number of texture memory allowed but in the case of GTA 4 buildings and textures will load in and out of texture memory alot slower as they are swapped from the ram. So with Niko standing still you can spin the mouse around behind him and see the buildings loading the textures in as you move the camera . With a gig of texture memory available this wont be noticed at all.

So is there an average for the bench for DMC4? Also, does it run at 1920x1200? Very impressive scores, Mandrake.

Don has a bunch of results from DMC4 that might be able to get an average from.

It does do 1920x1200 but I've been doing most of my gaming benchmarks at 1920x1080 for comparisons with all the 16:9 gaming systems out there like the W90.

I'm downloading the DMC benchmark now. What I want is your best runs at max settings and max resolution. I don't see the point in synthetic benchmarks, or benchmarks that are done at low res or with low settings. Especially if you're comparing systems like the M17, M17x, and the W90.
