Hey NBR, I've been reading these forums for quite some time, and finally decided to start posting =]

I wanted to know if it'd be possible to upgrade my screen to a 1080p screen, preferably the same type as Alienware offers as a 2nd choice for M17's -- and if so, where could I buy one?
    Thanks in advance.

definitely possible. check with current owners for the exact screen model, and then hunt the interwebz for it. ebay might be a good starting point. Moo and Rob41 should be able to help if you have questions about the exact procedure.

    Welcome to the forum livewirepyro.

The high resolution 1900x1200 is actually 1200p.

Yes, you can upgrade to that screen.

There are several resellers such as Ztronics and of course there is ebay.

Here is my how-to on changing the screen.

    Good luck and have fun!

EDIT: Dang, took me a minute to find the link whizzo. :D

Thanks for the reply's, whizzo and Rob! =]
I'll defiantly be using that guide when I order the screen :D

Can any proud M17 1900x1200 screen owners post some specifics on the make/model? I'm trying to get it exact with what Alienware offers so there's zero chance of incompatibility.

    Thanks again, guys!

Edit: And thanks Moo, I was thinking that question too!

If you look around at replacement screens you'll see that's actually a pretty good price.

It used to be $200 to upgrade to the high res screen. ;)

Will the screen resolution effect 3dMark scores? I know some basics about screen resolution -- but besides it looking better, are there any other major effects?

ughhh nothing but a better screen

thats all you get with the screen

you can run 3dmarks at a higher res which will lower your score . The new screen will be glossy and run @ a higher res.

i have a full screen guide change but ....searching is disabled
