    Hi,

I have just benchmarked the HD (2x500GB samsung drives configured raid 0) using HD Tune Pro 3.5. I am running a clean install of Windows 7 Pro (Retail)

    79.8MB/s Read

    Access time 47.9ms !!!!

    Burst rate 81.3MB/s

That's rubbish. I thought it was a vista problem, but the HDDs are sluggish in Win7 too.

Has anyone got a simillar problem or any thoughts on how I can improve this performance?

    j.

    I believe these are 5400RPM, 8meg Cache HD's.

Average read should be around 58MB/s - so your doing just a bit better.

If you require more speed - you should look at the Samsung Momentus 7200.3RPM's with 16meg Cache.

    you are correct.

but what about the 50ms access time, does that seem normal to you?
