I create this thread because EVERY single new owner jumps to this forum and create a new thread asking the same question when they first get their system.
I will update and with links when I have more time.

***vote Sticky****
-
Yes a sticky for this thread, would be great assuming we could keep it uptodate
-
yup, i will keep update when we add more stuff.
-
just don't link the OC thread in OCZ..they may never sticky it
-
same here.. -
-
How do you vote for it to be sticky?
-
-
-
Sigh ATI is slacking... Where are the 8.12 drivers?!
-
how does voting for sticky works?
wait for moderators to change it by seeing people vote for sticky? -
Have anyone Aliensense ore a Command Center working on the m17? I don´t find 1 for Vista64 and Alienware say i must wait for the release of it.
With the M17 i dont become a manual Bock, Anyone have one (pdf ore so) -
-
-
-
Anyone have the alienware webcam drivers ? the ones in my hive do not exist, ty
-
I tried, and I can't find the link for changing the keys.
Maybe I figure it out myself again and post. -
-
ok, I found the hot keys in regedit. Updated.
-
Here's the .reg file for setting your hotkeys up top. Just open it with notepad and edit as you see fit. Then after editing, double click the .reg to install.. you may need to reboot
Vista 64-bit
Vista 32-bit
EDIT: MAy wanna add these to the OP fusion.. -

does this link work for you? -
yea..do my links not work for you?
oh, and it only took me 45 seconds...but I knew where to look, and not on my computer
-
Sigh, almost done with the drivers, missing the webcam ones, gonna try the Cyberlink as fusion said.
Had to format 3 hours after i received my laptop due to chain blue screens (even in save mode), the cd with the drivers had no drivers in it (sigh..).
Did a fresh install and almost done (once again) -
Wait a minute?
It's DoA? If that's the case, did you use alien respawn? -
Used it, the only thing it did was to format my computer, restart and not be able to access it again
-
How did it go to BSOD?
Did you install anything before BSOD? -
Btw, any idea if the CPU score is any good ?
Attached Files:
-
-
seems about right..
And visit the www.ocztechnology.com page if you need any stock drivers. They work as well, if not better. And, BSOD may have been that modded .inf you did. Im starting a new thread - with a how-to install my modded inf for 8.12 w/full resolution scaling.
-
Ive had the BSOD EVERY time i tried uninstalling the drivers AND every time i tried to install them..
After the format they worked just fine, so im sure something didnt like the drivers
Tbh i dont mind formating since when the laptop came it used 1gb of ram after i logged into the windows.. Now it just uses around 650-700, got rid a lot of aw software i didnt need.
So far so good, got a few things left to install, hopefully everything will work fine, to tired to start all over again -
sometimes a fresh start is a good thing
-
Yeap, at least now i knows thats installed on my machine
-
if some folks would be so kind as to try out the 8.12 modded .inf I did, feedback would be welcome.
Thanks
-
The official 8.12 + mod is giving me trouble, still testing.
-
in my hive i found now a new Bios "Alienware_M17_KBC_Bios_130C"

bump for stickkkkkyyyy

Flashback Jack Notebook Consultant
Bumped, because Realtek Audio driver 2.11 is out.
And bumped for sticky too.
- F -
These drivers and programs will work with 64 bit, as well as 32 bit? (my system arrives tomorrow, and I plan on updating everything that I must and I run 64 Bit. Also are their any other "essential upgrades for a 64 bit M17?" or just what is in first post.
-
Flashback Jack Notebook Consultant
Yes. If there aren't 64-bit drivers listed in the links right away, you might have to click through a bit to get to them. Realtek drivers, for example.
This thread covers pretty much all the main stuff. Nothing not mentioned here is absolutely necessary short of overclocking using an OCZ BIOS (even that is hardly necessary for most).
EDIT: 3DMark Vantage link no longer functioning. Updated link: http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/3dmarkvantage/download/
EDIT: Fusion, add Driver Sweeper to link list: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

updated, thx.

fusion,
i just installed the R2.11 drivers. im not sure if i did it correctly.
under sound controller it says:
High Definition Audio Device (driver 6.0.6000.16386)
Realtek High Definition Audio (driver 6.0.1.5755)
is that right or should it say driver 2.11?
