    hey guys,

as u can see in my sigmature i have an M17.
i have a question about performance with UT3.
i see in some posts people are talking about frame rates in the low hundreds when they play this game at max res and settings.. when i play it, i get nowhere close to that..

am i misunderstanding something? are they running a different program called UT3?

    or is something wrong?

ask yourself, does it really matter? as long as the game runs at 40fps or more, you won't see any difference. did i mention your monitor can't actually show more than 60 frames per second anyway? so there's no point behind 100+ fps.

oh, i don't have UT3. if you want to run a benchmark, download 3dmark06 (the free trial version will do).

yah i did run 3DMark 06 and i got a score of around 10686 or something like that.
does that sound right with my specs?
i also have Ewrecked 8.12 installed.

with your CPU, that sounds about right, although i'm by no means an expert on the m17.

ut3 is capped at 62 fps when playing online.

    Incorrect.
Ut3 is automatically capped at the v-sync of your monitor. Which happens to be 62fps. Disabling v-sync and amoothed frame rates removes the cap, on/offline.

Ut3 by default als has a minium framerate set of 20fps. Which is stupid, settng the minimum to 0 and max to 999 in the UTEngine.ini will fix that. CPU is quite important in UT3, that may be cutting you back a few FPS but not a huge amount.

Although most monitors won't display more than 60fps beacuse of their refresh rate. You can easily feel a differance between 60 and 100+ FPS. Especially in a game such as Unreal Tournament.

Hey, Sparrow, I ran a UT3 FRAPS benchmark for you. 1920x1200/MAX Graphics. Full retail version.

    Min fps 62
    Max fps 135
    Avg fps 92

I edited the .ini for a minimum of 1fps and a max of 999fps. With your CPU you will be running at the cap almost all of the time.

I just read my Alienware PC Information document. It says the average framerate was 58 while playing UT3, thats 12 frames higher than I test!!!

Have you installed E-Wrecked's drivers? You can't expect too much; you got the low-end CPU.

As far as AW's benchmarks, mine were a bit blown out of proportion too, so don't feel too bad. What you're getting now is what matters.

like others said sparrow, i think your CPU is bottle necking, meaning your graphics card is doing all the work it can, problem is that UT3 requires alot of physics, thats why theres a agesis physics card option to tick to allow the physics X processor to do it, instead your CPU is doing all the work hense the low FPS, and i think the processor is limiting your FPS

not any amd cpus work too well with it to, so if your getting 50fps then who cares? :)
