Is the Expansion slot on the M17 compatible with pcmcia slot cards. I know its an express card slot but I know very little about both and was wondering if a pcmcia card will work in it.
    Thanks for the info

It's a half size PCI-e Express card slot. You have one for wifi and one for TV tuner. I assume you're talking internal.

hmm..good question. It looks like a single GPU solution..and I need SLI or Crossfire. I PMd justin from Xotic to see if he'd be willing to provide me a test/review Asus w90 unit. Don't know where that request will go, but it would be good publcity for Xotic..and free publicity. I mean, not like I haven't already given them plenty. ;)

I'm up in the air at this point..

If that's the case, he could send one to Chaz too for a review. You could benchmark and OC the hell out of it and Chaz can review the hell out of ot.

Getting back to the original question, no, it is an express card slot, which is not the same as or compatible with PCMCIA (it is a newer replacement). I have seen cards which convert from ExpressCard to PCMCIA, but they are external, so not ideal.

    For more details...

The M17 has an ExpressCard 34/54 slot (at least the OCZ WhiteBook does, AW do not state this on the tech specs).
