Your thread was a big help with all the info.. Although now i really cannot decide.. mlc (higher speed) vs slc (reliability?).. and ocz (mlc) vs intel (mlc or slc?) vs samsung (slc)?
I guess ill just have to pickStill most fond of the ocz vertex though.. but the intel is also catching my eye since its supposed to be the most stable but its expensive as hell.. Too many to pick from
![]()
-
the intel is freakin awsome but freakin expensive
i decided on mlc due to price and speed
my vote is still to the vertex ..... the intel is just to expensive
the super talent isjust as good as the vertex its the same drive with a differnt sticker -
Which intel do u mean? mlc or slc?

Hey guys, new problem: audio stuttering while playing warcraft 3 tft (stutters all the time.. right as i get in the game). This just started today.. worked fine before.. Any ideas? Could it be the new bios (this is the first time playin wc3 tft with it) or is it prolly software or worse - hardware?
Btw.: Moo, i just found an offer for intel ssd 80gb x25-m - new but no warranty for 200 - what do you think? -
did you put your computer to sleep?
and did you upgrade your audio drivers ?
is you get a SSD with no warrenty its either a bust or blessing because SSD rarley die and if they do well your out -
I never put it to sleep because of the known issues.. it boouts up fast enough anyway and as far as i know my audio drivers are up to date..
Bout the ssd im still deciding.. but its not such a small sum not to have warranty - almost 300$!.. Do you expect any price drops for intel ssds in shops in the near future - like a new model coming out and lowering the old ones prices? -
they are going to keep getting cheaper quicker because more and more are coming out
if youy keep waiting then you will never get it -
I guess ill just buy it than since ur prolly right.. ill just want the new model once it comes out
!
-
see lol when you get it post some benchs and ill compare
-
Will do.. just sold my two existing ssds.. will post once i get the intel in with w7..
-
Hey guys for the second (storage) hd which do u suggest? 500gb 5400rpm 8mb 114€ / 400gb 5400rpm 8mb 90€ / 320gb 7200rpm 16mb 79€ / 250gb 7200rpm 16mb 76€ / 250gb 5400 rpm 8mb 68€ - all are WD scorpio..
-
i personally would go for the 7200 rpm any cache the more the better
if money is no object of coarse -
Just ordered the 320gb 7200rpm 16mb sata2 scorpio
Had my eyes on that one the whole time just wanted another oppinion.. seams the best bargain for the price..
Just have to dl windows 7 now.. which do u suggest? 7000 or 7077? -
i have been using 7000 with no problems if it ain't broke dont fix it right
-
Did you crack it or did you leave it until it expires in order to get updates? If you did crack it how did you do it?
-
get a key off the interwebz. they're all over the place. i think M$ only released 10 different keys total.
-
I did some extensive reading and found this: (its on all ssds even intels x25-m)
It turns out that the remapping, which creates a swiss cheese of small fragments in the remap table, causes large files later written to those sectors to take up many small fragments on separate blocks. As drives, age, PCPerspective found, performance decreases dramatically on all kinds of workloads. In some instances, sequential reads were reduced to a mere 22MBps (from original 250Mbps), slower than some laptop hard disks.
So do you think i should just get two 7200rpms and raid them? I began to see this on my old two ssds.. I need to decide in 12 hours..
Edit.: i heard there is a fix for this from intel but i need confirmation.. any1 knows anything about this? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
go to google and type in product key to activate windows 7 and then go to microsofts website and sign up with a hotmail account unless you already have one. then they will send you a product key to to your email. it is yours so don't give it out.
and you bring up a good point. i would get to hatd drives and raid them. i am raided right now. i know i should of gotten 7200rpm hard drives but i got them for a great price and hoped on these. -
Can anyone tell me: if im overclocking fsb does it help if i get 1333mhz ram instead of 1066 i have now?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
well we are going to have to do some benchmarks to find out. then we can see. i have 1333mhz and you have 1066. i will post up some benchmarks.
try these.
WIC benchmark if you have the game.
wprime 32 and 1024 test.
and i cant think of anymore at the moment. but it won't give you any difference that you will see. -
I didnt elaborate: will 1066mhz ram die sooner if i up the fsb as the 1333mhz?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
oh sorry. you will blue screen before you get that high. i can't pump my cpu fsb past about 1150 and no matter high fast your ram(1333) is, if your cpu isnt cant get the data(fsb 1066) fast enough it doesnt matter.
but your question. i think it will because it will run hotter. i want heatsinks for mine but i don't know where to get any for ddr3 -
If I had to have one thing in my laptop burn out I'd want it to be the ram. Far and away the cheapest component.
-
Whell i got to around 1240mhz with setfsb with my q9100 qs and 1066mhz ram.. Didnt try much more but never got blue screen.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that's great. i thought you had the qx9300. but i havent done much test on it. tonight i will over clock on the stock multiplier. i should be able to pass the 1150 that i am at.
and to make sure you are stable, run memtest or prime95 or everest benchmark. and if you pass for an hour or more, then your good. -
I just did it to run 3dmark
... i dont run it overclocked otherwise.. And im getting qx9300 in a few days so i can just overclock the multiplier which is much safer as i am told.
-
I returned the Intel x25-m... long story short, the performance of a new drive is almost as good as the specs.. but after i filled it up around 60% and played around the write performance dropped under 35mb/s which is horrible.. after (this time intentionally) fragmenting the drive (WITH the newest firmware) even the read performance dropped and the write even more. So - not worth the money.. a raid 0 7200rpm performs much better in terms of write and also good in read (~130-150 average), has more space (640gb vs 80gb) and is not as expensive (less than half the x25-m price). I read enouh about vertex on ocz forums to know that users report the same thing as intel ssds so it fell out of the question. Im quiet happy with my raid0 array now.. definetely works better than my previous ssd raid0!
Ill post complete benchmarks once i get the qx9300. (3dmark, hdtune)
Just my expirience, you can have your own oppinion.. i just believe ssds are far from mature and usable. -
good to hear sorry about the issues i leave mine only for the OS nothing else which helps with the speed issue
-
You have a point - for just the OS it should last a few months at least before any serious fragmentation occurs and after it does you can easily image the os off, format the drive, clear the blocks once the trimm command is implemented and image it back on.. whatever you read do not try to defragment the drive becouse its made for conventional hds and fragments the hell out of a ssd and dont buy diskeeper becouse it does nothing (used their trial version with hiperfast and tested it).. i myslef just prefer to also have programs and games run (load) faster and for a longer period without much work (imaging, trimming etc.) so ssd was realy a bad choice for me. (didnt think it through enough) Perhaps once the problems of ssds are worked out with new algorithms ill get one or two again.
-
Whell guys i got w7 with everything installed now, and i managed to run hdtune.. im posting the old one (ssd raid0) and the new setup (7200rpm raid0) benchies..
somehow gpu drivers have been giving me a headacke.. i installed the 9.4 drivers from ati website but when i ran 3dmark it didnt scale so i just removed them and after that i tried e-wreckeds 9.1 and 9.3 and the ccc installs but the drivers wont.. it reports an error that it cant install the driver.. what can i do now? any suggestions w7 users? (my build is 7077 btw)
also: has any1 found out why the mouse and audio stutter appears? any fix yet? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
if you dont get a answer by tonight, around 1030 tonight pm me and i will sned you the .inf's for 8.10 8.12 9.1 9.2 9.3 and 9.4
-
My stuttering problem is getting real annoying and more and more frequent.. tried updating, removing and reinstalling audio and synaptics drivers.. doesnt help.. any ideas?
I believe this occured after going from p8400 to the quad but am not sure.. any dual core user also having this problem? -
its a documentd issue leeme show you the thread
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=368282 -
Ah that thread.. already tried everything from there.. doesnt really help.. thanks anyway.. ill keep reading the updates you provide
-
there is no fix as of yet we are waiting on a bios update
-
Is there no software to provide more juice to the cpu and gpus?
-
UPDATE: i removed all synaptics and mouse drivers (i have the agama 2 mouse) and updated audio from 2.21 to 2.22 and havent expirienced any more stuttering for 5 hours now (although i cant set the touchpad to not click on touch and cant set the agama buttons but it has the previous set memory so thats ok
). I also set the minimum power state of processor to 25%.
And i installed all drivers from 9.1,9.2,9.3,9.4 with and without the modded inf files and none scaled. Now i installed the 8.12 E-wreckeds mod and it scaled in windows 7!!!
I will keep you informed if i notice any stuttering again.
And dondadah88 if you could still send me the 9.4 inf with scaling so i can try yours that would be cool. -
Nevermind, 3dmark stuttering again. My only guess left: voltage - bios.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yes i 3dmark will always stutter. play a real game. for me it stopped the stuttering out off the game. i only notice stutter when i am exiting out of a game for 1min.
-
I dont stutter with the mouse and audio in windows anymore.. but 3dmark still is bad.. havent tried gaming yet.. 3dmark used to work like a charm with the p8400
-
I installed the qx9300 yesterday and now i am wondering if my temps are normal (i tested under 11.5x multi - 3ghz). The cpu idles at 47-51C and after a 3dmark06 run max was 81C.. is the max temp ok? and is it normal for the TZ00 chip to also reach 82C? and why is there 3C difference between two cores when idling?
After 10 mins of orthos the temps dont go over 72C..
Thanks for the info.. im just worried over these temps again. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
run prime95 it's much more stress then orthos
your temps are fine but you need to do a case mod at the bottom.
after this what is your idle? -
My idle with 37% is 40-44C (40,41,43,44). What do you think?
Do you also have such differences in core temperatures?
Should i reapply the thermal paste? -
I simply cannot find my 3dmark06 results in orb.. i submit them, see everything in the webpage, but when i search with orb i cant find my results.. any1 know this problem?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that is why i use snipping tools and save them to my desktop. and your temps are fine. remember it is two dual cores. and as long as you are 0-5 degrees you don't have to worry. and maybe your os is doing something on some of the cores.
nake sure that you applied thermal paste evenly to both cores. -
Any idea about 3dmark?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
my 3dmark's arent good because i still have a major stutter problem. i am 14900-15700 at anytime just cpy overclock. i should be over 16000 but until his issue is fixed. i can't break any records. what is your scores. and what driver are you using.
-
Whell my scores are 15500-16200 at 11.5x (3ghz) and i dont expirience any stuttering. I use E-wreckeds 8.12 drivers, they scale properly and work like a charm (they only dont show up as 3870 x2 in 3dmark but rather as 3870 but that doesnt matter).
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
really. you arent having any stuttering what are you using windows7 or vista. i might have to switch but i want the gui.
i stutter so badly in games it gets me mad. and i did take my own advice as well but it is not helping my case. i stutter at any clock speed or multiplier.
i still have yet to break 16000. i am happy your system is fine. -
Im using windows 7. I hope it stays this way.. 3dmark06 completes without stutter always till now.
