Just wanted to counter all of the b*tching and moaning folks do about the M17. I received mine in the middle of November, and it's been nothing but a great experience. I started with the P8600, went to an X9100, and finally upgraded to the QX9300.
The one time I had to deal with the Roswell Team in getting a new illuminated keyboard was a piece of cake. The new part arrived very quickly, and Alienware paid the return shipping of the old keyboard.
It's been a very positive experience, and I still get excited every time I get to use it.

Glad to hear at least some people are happy with their M17. If mine ever arrives I'll find out for myself!
-
I decided to give Alienware another shot and am pleased that I did. The performance of my machine has exceeded my expectations in every way. I am really hoping things stay that way. -

I hope your M17 shows up soon. You'll be very happy with it.

Yea the m17 is a notebook it was everything i expected and a lil more crysis is the only game that has problems and thats because its based of nvidia graphics
-
From what I've read, I only expected to be able to play with high settings but was pleasantly surprised.
I also use Game Booster to shut off unnecessary background programs:

I love my M9750, but my M17 is even better. From my perspective it's the same but improved. Newer platform, Extreme CPU, Vista64 etc. Just wish the card reader supported SDHC. -
On my desktop with AMD X2 5200+ 4GB Ram (DDR2 800) and 8800GTX AND AMD Tool (it's a tool which shuts everything not important down) I was able to get some more fps with everything maxed out
But it only had to play it on 1280x1024 not 1440x900^^
When I had my first m17 with a P8200 I was so disapointed because the notebook which costs twice of what my PC had cost 2 years ago couldn't handle Crysis with the same setting^^
With 9.3 and T9400 (+CrossFireX) I am sooooo happy playing Crysis maxed out

Since today I have two weeks of holidays so may be I have time to install Vista, AMD tool and Crysis^^

I received my M17 Monday and I am so pleased with the it, I am ordering an additional one for my wife. The customer service experince was great and I think this new Quad core is amazing....I tried Legendary and I am able to play on Very High with little trouble...Crysis is at High though I expected that...I have not used any new drivers as of yet or used any patches for the games. I am now a HAPPY Alienware owner!!! I also use this with internet and work and it breezes through all my maping software!!

ANy suggestions on what drivers I should use would be great!!! I will be searching the forum for this info, I am sure this is not the best place to ask this!!

If you guys run Crysis in DX9 mode, you'll gain at least ten frames per second. You can't run Very High settings without editing some text documents, but I don't really care.

15,500 in 3dmark06? What resolution and what drivers are you using? Are you at stock clocks? -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Well that's the QX9300 OC'd to 3.06Ghz. Default resolution for 3D'06. 1280x1024.

Yeah, but you're barely able to squeeze off a run. I'm talking about firing up my M17 and running a couple of benchmarks. No GPU overclock, no FSB overclock. Those are my reliable, every day benchmarks. Turn on your laptop and run 3DMark. Don't touch anything else. Even take a couple of warm up runs. What numbers do you get?
-
Oh I see it now,
a nice fat overclock on the proc. 2.53 stock to 3.06, nice.
M17 has been a very positive experience.
