    Hey ppl,

Just thought I should post this (not sure if anyone already had), but yea now for an extra $800 US (lol) you can get 2 x 4GB DDR3 sticks. I guess that means the M17 now officially supports 8GB of RAM.

Wow I feel like a complete tool. I told so many customers for so long that the only drawback to the M17 is that its board couldn't house and recognize more than 4GB of RAM. And now look at that...

Bad info from the PST

I can't think of anything that would have me use anywhere near 8GB of RAM. No matter what I end up using at most 35% of my 4GB...

How about getting those 4870's to work instead of overkilling the machine so much?

well, with 8GB of RAM, you could for example resize the pagefile to 0mb... resulting in a faster system.

You could run 4-5 VM's with 1GB or more dedicated to each.... you could run a whole server environment on your laptop.... im a such a geek!

People also frequently asked about running VMWare and with just 4GB they felt a bit limited. But with 8GB, things should open up a bit more for that system.

Nice to see Alienware finally figured it out.

That ram will have to get a lot cheaper before I buy it.

Wow thats really good. Now Alienware just needs to add the 4870's to the M17 and we will be good to go :D!
