    Hello

I ran into a real big problem.
I just bought an M17. It had one 320 GB HD, and I wanted to upgrade it to two 500 GB HDDs. So I put the new hard drives in, and installed Vista from the DVD that came with the computer. Than I saw that the drivers are missing. I put in the CD called M17 x64 support CD, and that is empty. I recently had an M9750, wich also had an empty CD. I figured that that CD is somekind of boot CD. So now I don't have the drivers. I'm not bothered with that, couse I can get them from the AW site, but I don't have AlienSense, and no AW softwares. I also don't have myHive, couse AW doesn't ship to my country and I buy everything off ebay.
So I read the owner's manual, and I realized that the recovery things are on the Respawn partition, on the old hard drive. So I put the old Hard drive in, and tested, and it worked. So I figured, that I have to put that Respawn partition on my new Raid 0 hard drives. And that is what I'm trying to do for the last 3 days and 3 nights. I've tried Norton Ghost, tried Acronis disk director, and everything in between, without any luck. Also I saved all the files of the Respawn partition of the old hard drive via Ubuntu Live, and tried to make a partition just like the original and copy the files there, but I coud not make them bootable.
Anybody with anykind of experince with this kind of thing?

Or I woud just be happy if somebody downloaded the AW softwares from myhive, and shared it with me.
I'm pretty furious couse I'm a big AW fan, and spend a lot of money on these systems, but I can't get any support here in the 3rd world, except of you guys.
    So please somebody help me.

    Thanks in advance

The M17 x64 support CD is the one with all the drivers and OSD etc.

If you can't get the support CD to work just go to the Alienware site and click on drivers and downloads. Make selections for your system and the following drivers are the for download:

    Bluetooth driver
    Chipset driver
    eSata driver
    Fingerprint reader driver
    Fingerprint reader hotfix
    Hot key utility 1.0
    Matrix storage driver
    Media card reader driver
    OSD driver (Alienware software)
    Touchpad driver

About the only thing you can't get there is the Alien Sense.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: Sorry to tell you, I just went to My Hive and the software for Alien sense isn't there. It must only come on the support CD.

One more question. Are the colors of the keyboard changable? When I select light off in bios it is green, when I select on, it is blue. I there a way to make it red?
And if somebody has the AW software in a kit, or in any format, please upload it somwhere with a password, and PM me the password. So it won't be illegal, and I think I have the right for that software, since my support CD is empty.
    Thanks

I have found a command center, but this one is only for the m15x, m17x models, and does not have the facial recognition. I need one like this, but for the M17. Thanks

I upgraded my RAID 0 100GB drives recently to (2) 320GB hard drives in RAID 0. Took like 15 minutes to restore the image I made of my O/S on the original drives. Have you tried using the Vista imaging utility?

If you dont have it (not included in Premium/Basic), then Paragon has a free Disk backup utility that I used on my wife's Premium.

Backing up the image to a externall HDD is easiest, but If you create an image on DVD's with the Vista complete PC backup and restore imaging utility you must boot into the Recovery Enviroment off the Vista disk and select "repair" then "restore from complete PC backup", then you must insert the LAST disk of the created image, then the first disk at the prompt.

After you restore the image, you will have to go into disk management and extend the volume/partion(s) to span the entire new RAID 0 HDD.
